HI - Stuttgart Hostel - Jugendherberge Stuttgart Hostel

Not a nice place to stay
For a youth hostel the room was of a decent size and it was pretty clean. The duvet and pillow were filthy -- they never get washed, you simply put a cover over them. The shower was in a separate room to the toilet -- very awkward -- there was also no basin to stand in, meaning the water ran everywhere. The food wasn't great -- breakfast was very limited and the dinner was very basic. It was hard to work out what the food was as the labels were only in German, not helpful if you have dietary requirements. No deserts on offer either, I always assumed that would be a standard part of a meal. Being at the top of a hill means you have to climb lots of steps to get into the city centre -- there is the option of a tram but that isn't much use if you're part of a school group with teachers who wont let you use it. Whilst the receptionist who helped my group to practice my German was helpful, she was about the only member of staff I saw until my last day. They did nothing about the loud music being played at 3 a.m. by one group.

While the hostel is a walk halfway up the hill, it is also an easy tram ride up the hill. The hostel is clean and the rooms are very spacious. Price was a little steep, but you get a good night sleep.

This place has a cold atmosphere but it has great and clean rooms.

It's too expensive.

A nice place to stay, with a good breakfast. But I had to climb up LOADS of steps before getting to the hostel. Good nonetheless.
