Barnacles Backpackers

Barnacles is a clean and friendly hostel. The hostel is divided into two buildings. In the first building the dorms/rooms are situated under the managers residence and comprise of two large dorms 10-12 people, 3xbed dorm, 3 double bedrooms, 3 twin rooms, 4 toilets and 4 showers. The other building sees the dorms situated upstairs with 2 double bedrooms, 4x4bed dorms, 2x8 bed dorms. Some of the small rooms have bar fridges (pay extra for fridges in room). Four toilets and showers are spread around the building. Underneath is the laundry, large entertainment room and large commercial type kitchen. There is undercover seating outside and plenty of room to entertain or play volleyball, table tennis or basketball. We also offer internet access and we have a large video library(pay).

A courtesy bus takes the backpackers to and from work on the farms each day and beach trips when needed. We also offer the use of bicycles so the backpackers can get around Bowen easier. Our aim is to supply a service to the farmers and the backpackers in a friendly professional manner and we welcome all enquiries and will do our best to assist backpackers with work information and placements. Generally there is plenty of work available between March and December.
