HI - Tallinn - Tatari Hostel

Considering the lack of options in Tallinn this place seemed fair to me. There's nothing really enticing, but it'll do -- and it's not far from the old town. I honestly don't know how the others managed to get such a bad experience. In short, not good, but not awful either. Just boring.

I arrived to be greeted by a large fat male. I was offended by his huge obese figure however I thought I would stay out of respect to the people of the country. My choice was to haunt me. Once I managed to unpack and settle down for breakfast I was confronted by the manager who screamed at me for 45 minutes because I said I was unhappy with the toilet. Other than that it was pretty good place to stay. The staff were nice to me and the place had a smell of pinewood mixed with jaffa cakes. I gave this hostel three stars out of six.

First, it wasn't easy to find because it's in the courtyard. The private rooms were smelly (mold) but the dorm for seven people was ok. The shower had no lock and the dressing room had an open view to outside. There was only one toilet and also there the lock was problematic.

This place was like sleeping in a cold puddle of water. Yuck! The whole room was moldy, and the sheets and bed were soggy. It was just gross. The shower/toilet was passable, but not by much. The staff were invisible and unhelpful. This may have been the worst hostel of my Europe.

When my girlfriend and I arrived we were treated horribly. I was kicked in the balls by a huge Russian and my girl was beaten with a stick in the breakfast area. It's very close to everything, close to the major sights. But I could not enjoy Tallinn when my balls were so swollen and blue. Thanks to this hostel I will never set foot in Europe again!

This is a terrible hostel! The staff are rude, not service minded and the cleaning woman stole my soup container in the shower!! The staff are Russian, but if you speak to them in Russian they will treat you even worse! Don't bother to go there, there is no reason to.
