Nestled cosily near the northwest end of the scenic Dingle Peninsula, Tigh An Phoist is run by the owner as part of a small shop/holiday apartments/hostel complex. This quiet and tidy hostel is a super place to forget that the rest of the world exists and recover your sense of sanity.
The rooms are quite small, some serving as four-bed dorms with access to clean common bathrooms with showers and baths, and others are twin rooms with en-suite bathrooms. The beds look nice, but some are a little collapsed in the middle. Rooms are carpeted and the doors can be locked. The kitchen area is spacious and completely equipped with cutlery, stove, microwave, tables, and the like.
The service is very good, with a personable owner who runs her shop next door during the day. There is plenty of space to park outside. The hostel is located in a tiny community a few minutes drive from the town of Dingle, so don't expect a short walk to all the tourist features. Getting there is a little complicated, so be sure to get detailed instructions from the owner.
The prime attraction of this hostel is its remoteness, quietness, and farmlands feel. And if the sound of mooing cows early in the morning helps you put the rat race on the back burner for a while, then pay a visit and while away a few days here.
