Hostel Suites Mendoza is a guest house that is moderately clean, has basic breakfast, fast Wi-Fi, and friendly staff. Its good location and fair prices are two of its strongest points compared to other nearby hostels. However, the good points are balanced lower by how clean the hostel is.
The Location
Suites Mendoza is situated right at the side of the city center, just five minutes away from the main Plaza Independencia. Mendoza is a relatively large metropolitan city, and because the hostel is so well located most city attractions, shops, and restaurants are at an arm's reach. Bus station can also be reached by foot, it would take twenty minutes.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Suites Mendoza is a relatively large hostel with four floors of suites; it has private rooms and also shared dorms. Most of them are en suite, but are quite small and cramped. They're lacking lockers too, but the hostel offers a luggage storage option at the bottom floor near the reception.
The beds are sturdy, clean, and mattresses are still stiff. However, even though it could not be said that the hostel and dorms are dirty, they are not clean either. It could not be overlooked that the hostel has seen better days and that results in a dull atmosphere. The same -- or just slightly worse -- could be said about the bathrooms.
Common Spaces
Suites Mendoza offers two common areas -- the roof lounge and the bottom-floor kitchen-dining area. A pool table and several computers are available for the guests to use free of charge. Although the Wi-Fi is fast, the signal does not reach the top floors and is best used near the reception at the dining area. The kitchen is sufficiently equipped, but like the rest of the hostel, it's dull and dim. A water dispenser at the bottom floor ensures free drinkable water. Breakfast is served everyday from 7 to 10 a.m. The guests can have cereal with milk, tea or coffee, croissants, or toasts with butter and jam.
Summary
Overall, Hostel Suites Mendoza is an average hostel balanced out by the good location, fair price, and fast Wi-Fi on the positive side and low atmosphere with dull surroundings on the negative side. It might be very well suited for travelers who plan to stay in Mendoza for just a few days and plan to be out in the city sightseeing most of the day.
