Informe de Hostelz.com
A small hostel located less than a kilometer from the train station. It's not exactly a palace, but it has high cealings that make it seem a little bigger than it is. The rooms have 6 beds each (combination of bunk beds and regular beds). The only common space is a small room with a kitchen (currently under construction) and a computer for free internet access. Overall it's a cheery place that's about average in quality and cleanliness. Beds are often booked in advance so make a reservation ahead of time.

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! - Showers are cold and are small and dirty. - Breakfast is nothing more than the machine coffee they offer you in the morning. - They are expensive compared to what you can get elsewhere. The location is ok.

Stay away!!! I stayed here one month ago and would never recommend it to anybody (especially females), or return ever again. Not only was nothing like it was stated on the Web page, but the male staff were very arrogant, and persisted in entering the rooms at night. As a female travelling alone I would not go back, as I did not feel safe.

I went to this place in May. They are in full center, great position and friendly staff. The price is cheap and the rooms very clean. Not bad.

READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING! If possible, I would give this hostel negative stars. I booked online for 4 nights over Easter. The hostel itself is advertised incorrectly and lacks many of the essential requirements. For example, I was about to take a shower on my first night there and one of the ceiling panels came crashing down on me. Also, they cram about 10 people into each room. If you look at the picture of the bed above, imagine 9 others in the room (some just on little mats) and you'll get the idea of the little space. There is NO breakfast (especially not one in "a lovely Roman restaurant"). That place definitely doesn't exist in the tiny area. On my third night there (Easter Sunday) I arrived at 8pm from a day of sightseeing and was told they ‘forgot' to save me a bed and that I couldn't stay there anymore (even though I had my itinerary and it clearly showed I was supposed to be there for two more nights). They refunded the two nights I had left, but I still lost because of the reservation fee I had to pay. They then ‘called' another hostel for me and gave me directions, but when I got there (a 20 min walk) this new hostel had no idea of who I was and said they don't take referrals from Michelangelo Palace (wonder why…maybe it's because everyone's irate when they arrive). All in all, I had to settle for an expensive hotel, as I didn't have time to search for a cheap place, and being Easter Sunday in Rome, nothing much was available. I have written them requesting a full refund (yeah right), and I hope you take my advice and book anywhere else in Rome.

We ordered a double room with private bathroom via email, and thought everything was ok. Upon arriving we were told that our room was in a nearby hotel, 4 blocks away! There they gave us a price 50% up from what we had agreed upon at Michelangelo's. After discusiion we got the price settled. The hotel does not have intenet access for free, as we were told. The webpages of Michelangelo's Palace paint a much brighter picture than what you will get when you arrive.

We were in the hostel Michelangelo Palace last September. It was a horrible experience for many reasons: 1- The rooms are a great deal smaller than what appear in the webpage. 2- Some days they do not clean the rooms. 3- The baths are always very dirty. 4- There aren't common zones, the reception is in a narrow walkway in which at night sleeps the hostel staff thrown in a mattress. 5- Guests can not smoke in the rooms, nevertheless the staff of the hotel smokes without stopping in a walkway without ventilation. 6- Is supposed to include breakfast (coffee and croissant), nevertheless on Sunday the café is closed, and there isn't breakfast. 7- The staff of the hotel don't have any education (seem to be from a movie of the Mafia). For all these reasons and because the price is very expensive for the room they give you, do not go to Michelangelo Palace. There are a great deal better and cheaper hotels.

A group of us stayed there last summer (2002). The rooms were fairly clean. At times it was a long wait for a shower. There was really no common area to speak of -- every time we came back to the hostel, we felt like we had to go in and sit on our beds. Overall, it was o.k. -- it just didn't add anything to our experience of Rome.
