Bon Tempo is a country venue and tranquil farmstay in Frontier country. Our cottages are on a small hill in the beautiful Manley Flats valley, 20km from Grahamstown and surrounded by nature and wildlife. Minimalism pairs with eco-art and thousands of glass bottles found a new use as feature in walls and windows. Self-catering or meals on request.
We offer down-to-earth cottages in a spacious priapic garden with a beautiful view and in a quiet and tranquil surrounding, which invites for walks. The Phall♂s art exhibition premiered at the National Arts Festival 2012 and is now a permanent gallery at Bon Tempo. We are surrounded by a game farm and other agricultural lands and on our farm we keep a group of zebras and some buck. The grassland with acacia, aloe, euphorbia, trees, shrubs and herbs slopes down to dense riverside thickets. Wild animals living in this area, besides the ones that we keep, are small buck, bush pigs, jackals, caracals, genet cats, porcupines, baboons, small monkeys, huge land tortoises, iguanas and other reptiles, and a vast variety of birds ranging from the African fish eagle to minute sun birds, not to forget the arthropods – the quiet observer might just be lucky to spot several species of them.
Half-way between Cape Town and Bon Tempo is just right to stop over or to stay on for a few days and conveniently explore the nature, wildlife and culture of Frontier Country, Addo Area and Sunshine Coast.
Farm walks, garden, braai facilities, animals, star gazing, bird watching, Phallos Art Gallery on request, basic guest kitchen and more...
