This hostel is located in a bit of a rundown building, but inside it looks much better. It has clean and modern-looking rooms and bathrooms, and a well-equipped kitchen. It's on one of the main streets of the restaurant and clubbing neighborhood, in addition to being a short walk from many of the main tourist attractions.

The hostel has a very convivial atmosphere, in addition to relatively tight living arrangements, so don't come here expecting to be solitary or anti-social. It's a place to meet people. Do however, be prepared to lug your luggage up several flights of stairs, as there is no elevator.

The staff is excellent and it's located very near the main attractions of the city -- it is more or less at walking distance from Atocha train station. and the breakfast is included and you can eat all you like, which can be a bit of a problem at times, because the food will end quite quickly, and it's quite messy around. We got a double private room, which really had a bed and a bunk crammed in a little blue box almost a cell-like place. And we also had a private double, which in both cases had very little space and the beds where a bit strange. The place is really noisy, people go up and down stairs all time, and since they are wooden stairs I bet you can get the picture of the amount of noise they make. The shower rooms are really ok. Overall you should go if you want to save a little coins and still have a breakfast and a quite good location, but I'm not sure if you'll get to sleep too well.

I heard this was a loud party hostel, but generally I found it pretty cold and sterile. Only a few drunk people wandering around the halls and the foyer was under construction so there was no social area. It is in the main district where all the action is so it was a bit noisy in the streets (where I spent most of my stay anyways), but a quiet enough place to sleep early. The staff was super nice though, very friendly and sweet.

The hostel is quite clean (it is cleaned every day) and the staff are really nice and helpful. The toilets are very small and the showers quite uncomfortable because there are bedrooms opposite it and, since the door is quite always left open by people coming in and out, anyone who is passing by could see you while you are getting out of the shower (since there are no intermediate spaces where you can get undressed and dressed). This is the only drawback. Breakfast is simple but the time is quite flexible and once food has finished you can ask for more and the staff would bring it immediately. The rooms are clean and the lockers are quite big. The location is really the best you can have in Madrid -- in the centre of everything, three minutes' walk from the Prado, five minutes from Paza Mayor and Puerta del Sol and in the most attractive borough of the city, where night life bustles and where you can find traditional Spanish pubs and have a tasty traditional meal at a good price. It is also a hostel suitable for people who are looking for a quiet place in the middle of the city. Some of the rooms have windows overlooking the internal corridor and some others overlook the calle Las Huertas which is only pedestrian, so no cars to disturb your sleep! You'll only have bunches of enthusiastic and loud Spanish talking and laughing loud while passing by, but this is also part of the "folklore" and with a pair of good earplugs you will be ok. A very good value hostel.

Great location! In the center of everything -- bars, clubs, shopping, and walking distance to attractions. The building is a bit shabby, room was spacious with large comfy bed, but not recently renovated as assumed.(Hallway looked better.) Breakfast was the worst ever! Small stale bread with jam that was bland and bits of construction paper that was supposed to be corn flakes! Staff was very friendly and helpful, speaking both Spanish and English. Cool people linger in the kitchen and common area, which aren't always so clean (blame that on the guest).

I was only there for one night, to rest before going home. It was an OK place to do that. Very quiet until the other people in my room got back. Nice and clean and spacious. Very good location. The shower was actually too hot... never had that problem in a hostel before!! There was no way to change the temperature though so actually I couldn't wash my hair (too scalding!). Good lockers to keep your stuff in, and they'll let you keep your bags in a locked room after you check out.

This is party central. Great location — one block from Santa Ana and the center of the nightlife. There is a huge common area/kitchen on the ground floor that everyone uses. The old bloke who runs the desk at night is great. The facilities are clean. The big frustration is the 10 a.m. lockout for three hours so they can clean.

"The Lads in 203." Three mates and myself had a wicked stay at this hostel. It's location spot on; if you want to be part of the "party crowd" step outside the door any night of the week from 8 p.m. till around 5 a.m. and immerse yourself in a truly magical experience of Spanish nightlife! We found the hostel receptionists very helpful, and the bunk beds in room 203 were very comfy. The bathrooms were all clean, though the showers were running a little cold for our liking. The lockout from 10-1 p.m. was a bit of a bummer, especially after partying all night, but the siesta more than made up for it! I am definitely planning to stay here again. "It is what you make it." Keep up the good work, guys! I'll be seeing you real soon.

This was the best hostel that we stayed at during our entire trip across Western Europe. The air conditioning is great, the location is excellent and the beds and showers are very clean. The best night spots in the city are on the same street as the hostel. And to top it all off, this place is the cheapest of all.

This hostel was very nice, quiet and clean with a very helpful staff. This is a good place to stay if you are looking for a little quiet in Madrid. It's within walking distance of all the sights, and people from all over seemed to be staying here. However, it did seem to cater to a slightly older crowd (26 years and older) but all in all it was a very pleasant place to stay.

I didn't actually stay at this hostel but they didn't charge me any fees when I cancelled about 7 hours prior to arriving. My traveling buddy had a wicked case of the flu and needed to be very close to a private bathroom. Thank you so much!

The hostel is very clean and big. But the room prices are suspicious. I turned up here with no reservation and was charged 17 euros. I spoke to another guy who also turned up without a reservation, and he was charged 14 euros!! His room was bigger than mine, with single beds instead of bunk beds. It doesn't make much sense.

Excellent hostel in a great location. To the left, you have the palace and the main shopping area, plus all the main plazas; to the right, you have the huge park and the Indepencia monument. It is also on the main strip of nightlife, right in the center of it all. For once it comes to you! Pubs and discos are all nearby. They are also in the process of renovating the whole hostel, so it should be brand spanking new very shortly. It is cheap, too, and has huge lockers in the rooms. I met tons of great international people when I stayed there. I definitely recommend it.

This hostel is simply the greatest place on earth. You can't help but make friends and the staff are the most helpful and knowledgeable staff of any hostel. Also make sure you visit Cher's Karaoke bar just down the street.

Spacious rooms with high ceilings. A bit noisy at night. Bathrooms were not too clean. Receptionists were very multi-lingual but not always friendly. The courtyard in front of the kitchen was full of trash and the kitchen wasn't too clean, but it was very well equipped with dishes and cookwaer. Internet access is a single computer by the reception area. The hostel is conveniently located a short walk from sights like the Prado and Reina Sophia, and very close to the metro. Large lockers in rooms, but bring your own lock. The hall smelled like cigarettes and my friend found a baby cockroach in her freshly-unfolded sheets, but otherwise a good stay.

The first I thought there are no people - then we went out in the evening and when we came back the street was full of people and it was noisy til 5 o'clock in the morning. For partying it's nice!!!
