The Oporto Sky Hostel is in a nicely renovated historical building just outside the core of the old towne, but still within walking distance of everything. The neighborhood has an interesting mix of parks, historical buildings, and authentic local eateries and cafes where you can grab something warm to eat late into the night. One of the first things you will notice is the friendly staff and the owner who makes the effort to get to know each of the guests by name and to help you get oriented to the hostel and the city. The second thing you'll notice is the striking decor with an Astral theme.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Dorm rooms are pleasantly decorated and freshly painted in pleasing, relaxing colors, and the beds are super comfy. There are wooden lockers for storing your things. The shared bathrooms are down the hall, and there are separate bathrooms for male and female guests. There's an all-female dorm, the Moon Room, which is quite nice, but unfortunately, it's the noisiest dorm in the place, as guests tend to congregate on the stairway which is just outside the oval window from the dorm.
Common Spaces
The lounge area is quite comfortable with a sofa, bean bags, a TV, and a computer, as is located quite far from the sleeping areas, so you can party all night without disturbing anyone. In fact, you have to walk through the courtyard/patio to get there. The other common areas are the spacious and well-equipped kitchen and the dining room (with a television) where guests can help themselves to the complimentary breakfast.
Summary
All in all, the Oporto Sky Hostel feels a bit like a home away from home.
