• Katrinedal is a village situated at a small river, 15 km (9 miles) south of Silkeborg, and 4 km (2.5 miles) north of Bryrup.
• "The hostel is located in the heart of exceptionally beautiful scenery. The great forest stretching out in every direction offers a variety of adventures. For school camps, the many lakes offer sufficient material for subjects in terms of birds, insects and fish. Rare birds are also found here (black grouse, kingfisher and the water starling). The nature trail by the old railway is ideal for the keen observer. Historical events from Stone Age to modern times can be studied by visiting sites or museums. The tourist information centres in Bryrup and Silkeborg can provide advice and material supplementary to what we have here at the hostel."
• "DANHOSTEL Katrinedal opened in 1939. ‘Rast', the name of the hostel, is located in Katrinedal, a small village surrounded by forest, lakes and meadows."
