Nazaré, a coastal city in the center of Portugal, is a place where you can enjoy long sandy beaches along with traditional food (mostly fish). Nazaré can be divided in two -- Nazaré de Cima (up Nazaré) and Nazaré de Baixo (down Nazaré). You can find the downtown (the tourist area of the city) with its many restaurants, bakeries, and places to eat the seafood that is the main course of this city. On the other hand, if you want to go to more a chilled-out beach and be more quiet, then you should go to north part, which can be reached by electric cars that go up along roller cables. In the north area you will find a fort, where you could watch some of the highest and biggest waves in the world; if you attend this phenomenal place between November and February, you will be delighted with a blessing from nature.
You can find some inexpensive accommodation in Nazaré; there are a few Nazaré hostels and many traditional accommodation options. In Nazaré, you also can enjoy the green nature of the region -- the area is quite beautiful to hang around, and if you're a lover of cycling you will find nice routes where you can see the beauty of the area. From Nazaré, you could reach the Berlengas Islands if eventually you get bored, you must go to Peniche and from there get a boat. Nazaré is a place surrounded with good energy where you can experience the typical life from this ancient fishers' village.
