Get to know Glen Waverley (no more "I wish I knew this before")

This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Glen Waverley.

Glen Waverley is an outer suburb of Melbourne. You will get to it if you travel on the Glen Waverley train line all the way to the end of the line from the city. The train line is found right next to the large shopping centre known to the locals as "The Glen" and this contains supermarkets and other retail shops. Down along the strip to the right, you will find a stack of restaurants with cuisine from all around the world and a movie theatre if you feel like taking in a movie.

While being a quiet and sleepy suburb, the biggest reason people tend to come out this way is to visit the famous "Ramsay Street" from the long running TV show, "Neighbours." The real name of the street is Pin Oak Court and if you aren't on one of the Doctor Karl tours from the city, you can come out here and check the street out yourself. You may even see them filming for the day.

If you want to get really local, you can head on down for a pub meal and some music and entertainment during the week. Just check the board out front on the intersection diagonally opposite The Glen heading away from the station to see what is going on. The place is affectionately known by the locals as "The Mountain Spew," given the large number of nights had out there by university students that live in the area, who are attending the Monash University Clayton Campus.

Accommodation and hostels in Glen Waverley are mostly found in and around the train station area, giving you access to both the city and to all of the amenities in the local area that you will need during your stay here. Hostels in Glen Waverley are sparse and it would pay to book in advance around the beginning of the university year.
