The circular River Cat Villa lies by a river estuary with a family of dogs, cats, slightly more eclectic travellers and the rather unusual host Rinoo who can often be found lying in a hammock in the garden ever willing to talk about literature and travel.
People from other guesthouses often come to sample the garden café which has a breakfast and lunch menu of fantastic cakes, fruits and good coffee. It is usually run by Europeans who stay for the season.
The rooms are positioned over three levels of the guesthouse each with private swing chairs, split levels for the beds, private balconies and colourful mosaic tiles.
If you enjoy the more diverse aspects of Indian design and culture then this is the place for you. For example don't be surprised to see western Sadhu's and other travellers who have been influenced by long-term travel in India.
Night times can be lively if Rinoo knows a good band in town or arranges other entertainment. Otherwise it's tranquil by the riverside.
