Expect a very nice and quiet hostel, with plenty of comfort, and friendly staff.
The Location
The hostel is located in the Northwest neighbourhood of Portland, just one MAX-stop outside the Fairless Square. The hostel has its own little parking space where you can park your car, and there's a park just one block away. Shops, restaurants, and pubs are on the popular 23rd Avenue,...(Troutdale)  "McMenamins Edgefield is located in Troutdale, but it's only about 25 minutes from downtown Portland by car. It's a European-style lodge with mostly private rooms, but they also offer a few shared dorm rooms.
The lodge is in a historic old building on an estate dating back to 1911 (the locals claim it's haunted). The walls of the lodge are painted with all sorts of whimsical (and somewhat bizarre) illustrations dating back to the building's years as a retirement home. The rooms are...(Downtown)   "This is a large hotel with some shared dorm rooms located in the northwest part of downtown. If you're looking for a fun hostel to hang out with other young backpackers, this may not be the best choice. There are occassionally some young travellers that stay here, but not many. And all of the rooms are smoking, so the whole place is smoky and dusty. The location is good if you want to be downtown, but if you have a car you'll have to either park far away or pay for a parking garage."...
