"STF/HI Youth Hostel Visby is perfect for those wanting a trip down memory lane as the hostel uses a primary school during the empty summer months. In itself, there is nothing particularly attractive about the place, though the rooms and kitchen are spacious and generally pretty clean. The showers are not so pleasant, but do the job. Disabled access and facilities are also very good throughout the building (except perhaps the front steps on the way in). Visby Reisetipps & Hinweise

Visby was one of the stops on a cruise we took from Copenhagen to St. Petersburg. Visby was, by far, a definitely highlight of the cruise. Our ship was too big to dock in the harbor, so we had to take the lifeboats from the ship to the harbor. That was fun. It was so beautiful in Visby, and the medieval city and the church were breathtaking. I would highly suggest a trip to Visby to anyone interested in history and beauty. And -- they stressed to us fully -- the Vikings were not rapists and pillagers. They were merchants! — Anonymous

I have studied here for a year -- it's a marvelous place. Full of history, picturesque, calm (well, not in summer when it's full of tourists). The surrounding is wonderful. Capital of Gotland, the island in the Baltic sea, is a must for visiting. It's called "Palma de Majorka of Scandinavia." If you visit Stockholm, you should undertake at least a one day trip to Gotland (by plane or ferry). You won't be sorry! — Sonja
