They are a great drawcard for bringing in travellers and a good spot for a morning or afternoon drink. Try a thick, black Lao coffee here. There's also a TV lounge inside and reception will happily turn on an English channel for you. There are chairs and tables for guests to sit at to read, write or talk. "I stayed at this guesthouse for close to a month when I was in Vientiane. The family was one of the nicest I have ever met on my journeys. "Clean, cheap, good amenities - I thought this hostel was great. It was super cheap, about $6 USD for a private room with a shared (but clean) bathroom. The room was very clean, with a fan (no AC), and while the hostel was a bit loud, it had free breakfast to enjoy with other backpackers. "RD Guest House only has dorm rooms – 2 large rooms with 18 beds in each. The rooms were mixed so males and females all go in together. There were only Japanese and Korean guests staying here besides me. At first this felt funny but they were so friendly and made good room companions, joking and sharing stories. And generally their English was pretty good because they needed it every day for travelling. At night everyone congregated downstairs in the reception on the floor to play cards, talk and read books.
