"Kobe Dears Backpacker House is a fine hostel, unfortunately located away from the city center. It has nice, cheery dorms and a cozy lounge and run by a friendly couple. The Location A bit of a trek to get to there, and not much of anything to do in the area. It's fifteen minutes' walk from the nearest train station and several stops on the train from the main station in Kobe. "No hassle, and it's quiet. However, it's actually located in one of Kobe's suburbs, Tarumi ward, about 20 minutes by train (no worries for JRPass holder though) and still 20 minutes by foot from the train station. I stayed here a couple of nights in early June 2005. My dissatisfaction was that I initially booked through this Web site a "two-bed mixed room." Upon check-in I was given the six-bed dorm.
