Morro de São Paulo is a small paradise on the island of Tinhare, municipality of Cairu, in the state of Bahia, Brazil. The only ways to reach this island are by boat or flight that departs from Salvador's airport.
To protect its beauty, cars and motorbikes are not permitted on the island, so transport is by tractor (you can catch them to go to your hostel, beaches, and airport) or jeeps/pickups from the accommodations around.
Morro de São Paulo is well known for tourism, for its beautiful beaches and mangrove forests, fishermen villages, friendly people, and delicious food. During your visit, see First Beach (the smallest one, but the only one that has some waves), Second Beach (the most busy beach on the island, both day and night –- during the day, you can enjoy the sun and at night have a nice meal or a drink), Third Beach (good place to snorkeling -– here you can rent all the equipment), Fourth Beach (beautiful natural swimming pools), Praia do Encanto (a beautiful deserted beach, where you can take long walks), and Gamboa (this place has a lot of restaurants and small bars –- the perfect place to be in the late afternoon). The best time to visit this paradise is from October until March, when the water is clearer, so you have more visibility (January and February can become a little bit more crowded).
There are a few hostels in Morro de São Paulo, most of them located in front of the beach. Morro de Sao Paulo hostels are small, but cozy, clean, and with an amazing staff. For better rates, we recommend you book in advance.
