Darwin Herberges    "Frogshollow is a friendly hostel situated in a quiet street just outside the main city centre area but still within a short walk of all the action. The hostel is surrounded by tropical plants and has a lovely garden area with a pool, spa, and BBQ. There is a very relaxed atmosphere here.
The facilities are good. There is a well-equipped kitchen (free light breakfast), internet access,... "Wilderness Lodge is located on Mitchell Street, Darwin's central street. It is close to the Darwin transportation center, but doesn't has it's own car parking. You can find it on the northern edge of Mitchell Street, short distance across the road from the Holiday Inn hotel.
The lodge itself is clean with a big pool in the middle of it. Around the pool there is a lot of shaded sitting place... "Excellent accommodation, and well situated." … "Just perfect. This without a doubt is the best hostel in Darwin. It is sterile looking but it is worth it. It's clean and tidy. There are two pools, which I don't think I could get cleaner if I cleaned them myself — they were spotless. The mattresses have a waterproof cover — great for preventing bed bugs. Deposits for sheets and keys and... "The Banyan View Lodge is located on the fringe of Darwin city centre. It is approximately fifteen minutes' walk from the Greyhound bus stop. They don't offer a courtesy pickup. If you travel by train, a paying shuttle bus will pick you up but you will need to book in advance.

Real fresh filter coffee in the mornings with thin baked pancakes from the barbie. Good on ya mate! I stayed at several hostels durring my travels, but only a few of them I could call my home. Gecko Lodge is definitely my homeplace wen I get back to Darwin in 2007. People that complain about a... "It's OK I guess - was being done up when I was there in Feb 05 so might be a lot nicer now - pool was being replaced. Darwin is humid and steamy so the aircon is a necessity. The bar next door is nice and has good food. 4 bed dorms were quite scruffy but fine to sleep in - sheets were clean. The central location of this hostel meant that lots of bars and restaurants were on the same street. "Globetrotters Lodge Darwin is one of the many backpackers along Mitchell Street, Darwin's main street. It's located closer to the northern edge of Mitchell Street. There is some parking just beside the building, and usually you will be able to find a place. If you're arriving by bus, the Globetrotters is easily just five minutes walk from Darwin transportation center. To find this place, just... "Elkes Inner City Backpackers Lodge is located on Mitchell Street just past the Stuart Highway, about five to ten minutes from the main group of hostels and stores further up the street. In the opposite direction you can find the seasonal Mindil Beach night markets, the museum, and so on.
Elkes isn't the perfect backpackers, but it does try to make you feel welcome.
