There are a wide selection of stunning SURF beaches here in the Bay of Plenty, with Papamoa Beach, Mount Maunganui, Maketu, and Waihi Beach (to name only a few!)

ACCOMODATION
Hairy Berry Backpacker Hostel is only a 10 minute walk from the town centre, which offers 2 supermarkets, most banks, a few cafes bars and a cinema.
Most rooms provide 4 to 8 bed rooms - seperate male & female rooms (mixed on request) with shared common areas and facilities. Private double & twin rooms offer more peace and quiet and shared facilities (kitchen, bathroom & laundry) which are shared with up to 6 other people.
All cooking & clothes washing machine use is included, also Sky TV. Clothes drying is $2 for 45 minutes or you can use the washing lines provided. Security cameras installed inside and out (not in privicy areas.... sorry) offer additional security especially if you decide to stay in a tent over the summer months.
There are internet computers in the common room available 24/7 and setup for most countries. There is also an internet cafe available for visitors and public and are locked after hours.
In house phones are free for local calls and prepaid calling cards can be used for long distance & international calls.

The staff are friendly and work really hard to help people during their stay if looking for fun activities or to find work they are always there to help. They find jobs by networking with employers in the area seeking staff. Transport and training can be also arranged if required. Generally people can get work within a day or so of arriving.
Kiwifruit work is available in the Te Puke area for about 10 months of the year. October through till Feb-March for summer pruning (kiwifruit) then on to the MAIN SEASON beginning in APRIL picking and packing work and later winter pruning which begins in July and lasts until the end of September. There is less work available during the summer months October - March.
