Skweeks House

Skweeks House is a great location to explore Kingston & the 1000 Islands from. One of the newest buildings in historic Sydenham Ward, it was built in the early 1950's as a three unit apartment building. Walk, bike, drive, ski, skate, kayak or sail there's history, shopping, entertainment and scenery in all directions.

Skweeks House is:
-within easy walking distance of downtown Kingston, the tourist information office, city bus transfer point, Queen's University, Lake Ontario.
-a short walk to departure points for: 1000 Islands cruises, Haunted Walks (tours), Confederation Tour Trolley
-a short bus ride (or a longish walk) to: FORT HENRY historic site.
Other Museums, Art Galleries and Historic sites within walking distance:
MURNEY TOWER historic site, Fort Frederick & the Royal Military College Museum, City Hall, St George's Anglican Cathedral, St Mary's Catholic Cathedral, Canada's Penetentiary Museum, Marine Museum of the Great Lakes, Museum of Health Care at Kingston, Queen's University Archives, Pump House Steam Museum, Miller Museum of Geology, Princess of Wales' Own Regiment Muilitary Museum, Agnes Etherington Art Centre, Bellevue House.

Skweeks House guests are encouraged to explore Kingston's active night life with in walking distance. Sample locally brewed beer at the "Brew Pub" or Ontario wines at local night spots. Check out the range of entertainment in the theatres, cinemas and restaurants.

Skweeks House is a family oriented building (with pets). A place for restful rejuvenation after a busy day of work or play. A piano is central in the shared common room, a guest computer is provided, but no television. Books, puzzles, games, quiet socializing often pot luck style meals fill the evenings.

Reservations suggested as Skweeks House is small, with only 3 rooms and seven beds.

CHECK IN 6-8pm (or by arrangement) Other times there is often no staff on duty.

Skweeks House is dragon friendly but must request that there be no smoking in the building or on the property in order to keep smoke from being drawn into the rooms.

Please let us know in advance if you have a vehicle so we can assist with the planning required to accommodate your parking needs in the downtown core.
