Sant Jordi Hostels Sagrada Familia Reviews

Even though you will be surprised about the price/quality ratio in Sant Jordi Sagrada Familia hostel, this is not the best thing hostel has to offer!

The Location

The hostel is located in the neighbourhood of Sagrada Familia, which is only ten minutes' walk away. It is easily connected to another tourist spots in Barcelona (Park Güell, bunkers, Barceloneta Beach, or Las Ramblas area) by either metro or buses. Public transport to/from hostel after midnight is rather poor and needs planning in advance if you want to avoid waiting for the bus.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Dormitories are very modern and safe and equipped with separate lockers for every guest. Contrary to many other budget hostels, you don't need to pay for them and they are electronically locked and unlocked using the same keycard you use to get into the room. Beds are rather firm and stable, so you don't need to be worried about a person trying to get to his bed just above you. There is also a shelf, an individual source of light, and a power socket next to every bed. The temperature and lights in the dormitories are controlled automatically and unfortunately it is pretty cold for many guests.

The hostel has unusually clean and warm bathrooms, so forget about freezing in a cold room right after leaving the shower. If you don't have your own towel, you can rent it from hostel. You pay for the towel and there is an additional charge every time you will want a new one. Shower rooms and toilets are in separate rooms, so there are no long waiting times when you need to use a toilet urgently.

Common Spaces

The reception desk is open twenty-four/seven. During the day, you use a keycard to get inside the building, while at nighttime this system is switched off for security reasons, so you have to ring the bell. Staff are extremely helpful and will be more than happy to show you how to get to tourist spots in Barcelona, marking the way on a map for you. When we checked out, they even told us we could still hang out in all common areas as long as we want, which shows a respectful attitude to guests even after their stay.

The hostel offers dinners for a small price (there's a different one every day of the week) as well as breakfasts for a small price, but kitchen is big enough for people to cook their own food, and there are also plenty of dishes and cutlery that are free to use. There are three big fridges for the guests, which makes preparing your own food even easier! Also, you can always make tea/coffee for yourself, completely free of charge.

Next to the kitchen, you can find eight computers with Internet connections (again, entirely free). Not all of them work as they should, but we never had to wait to use one of them. You also have possibility of printing for a nominal fee per page.

Other facilities include an indoor ramp for all skating enthusiasts; a cosy terrace for enjoying in good weather; and the possibility to buy snacks, drinks, or coffee from vending machines at all times. You can also rent bikes and skateboards for a per-day price. You can also pay to use washing and drying machines for your clothes.

Every single day is a party day, which means you can go with staff and all the party people from the hostel (and not only this one!) to different bars and clubs in Barcelona with free entrance!

Summary

If you are looking for a comfortable place to stay for a low price, you don't need to look further than Sant Jordi Sagrada Familia hostel, but this is not what this hostel is about. It is about creating an amazing Barcelona experience, which you will remember for a long time!

Location and Contact

Location

• Directions to Sant Jordi Sagrada Familia
• We have two different metro stops within five minutes' walk of the hostel: the L5 (blue) stop Sant Pau/Dos de Maig and the L2 (purple) stop Encants. Which stop is the best for you will depend on where you are coming from. Always be sure to exit the metro station using the exact exit given in the directions below. Exiting from the wrong exit will put you on a different street and will make it much more difficult to find the hostel.
• Coming from El Prat Airport (BCN Airport) by Bus & Metro:
• Bus: Take the Aerobus from the airport to Plaza Catalunya. When you get off the bus in Plaza Catalunya you will be in front of the Corte Ingles building (a very large department store, the size of the entire city block).
• Facing the El Corte Ingles building, with your back to the street, go to your left. You will be going up the street Passeig de Gracia.
• Continue walking up, on the right-hand side of Passeig de Gracia, for 2 city blocks until you come to Gran via de les Corts Catalanes (a very large street with a Zara on one corner and a Levi's shop on the other).
• Just in front of the Zara you will find an entrance to the metro. Enter the metro station and take the L2 (purple) in direction Badalona Pompeu Fabra until the stop Encants.
• When exiting the metro station at the Encants stop, after passing through the metro security gates, take the exit to the left (just next to the magazine and newspaper kiosk).
• When you come to the top of the stairs you will be on the corner of Carrer del Dos de Maig and Carrer de Valencia, facing up the street Carrer del Dos de Maig.
• With the La Caixa bank on your right, continue up Dos de Maig for 3 blocks until you come to Carrer del Rosello. You will see a fruit shop with an orange sign on your right.
• Cross to the other side of the street, where there is a La Caixa bank and a kiosk on the corner that says La Vanguardia and go to your right. The hostel reception entrance is less than 15 meters from the corner, directly across the street from the Consum market and Bar 504. It is a pretty large entrance and should be hard to miss.
• Be Aware: Because the street Carrer del Rosello forks here, on the side of the street with the fruit shop the street name is Carrer del Rosello and on the side of the street with the La Caixa the street is named Carrer Freser. In between the 2 streets, causing them to separate is a triangle shaped plaza (park and playground area).
• We're not far from the corner of Carrer Rosello and Dos de Maig, but on the Carrer Freser side of the street. Just look for number 5 and you will see a Sant Jordi sign with the Sant Jordi Dragon on it.
• Metro: Take the L9 (orange) at Terminal 1 or 2 (T1 / T2) , get off at Collblanc St. and switch to L5 (blue) in the direction of 'Vall d’Hebron' to the stop 'Sant Pau/Dos de Maig'. When you exit the train at the Sant Pau/Dos de Maig stop you will need to follow the signs that say “sortida” (exit) Dos de Maig. Be sure that you exit on the street Carrer del Dos de Maig. If you take the wrong exit you will be one city block in the wrong direction.
• As you exit the metro station, coming to the top of the stairs, you will see an ice cream and candy shop to your right and a hospital on the other side of the street (*note, if you take the elevator you will come out on the opposite side of the intersection). Cross to the side of the street with the hospital and continue down Carrer del Dos de Maig, with the hospital on your right hand side.
• Walk down Carrer del Dos de Maig for 2 blocks until you come to the street Carrer del Rosello (*note, if you are walking on the left side of Carrer del Dos de Maig the street that you come to after 2 blocks is named Carrer del Freser. This is because, just after crossing Carrer del Dos de Maig, the street Carrer del Rosello forks into 2 streets. One continues as Carrer del Rosellos and the other is named Carrer del Freser).
• At the intersection of Carrer del Dos de Maig and Carrer del Rosello you will see on one corner a La Caixa bank and a kiosk that says La Vanguardia on it, on the opposite side of the street a fruit shop with an orange sign and diagonal across the intersection from the La Caixa, a bakery named Paul. You need to turn right at the La Caixa.
• The hostel reception entrance is less than 15 meters from the corner, just directly across the street from the Consum market and Bar 504.
• We are not far from the corner of Carrer Rosello and Dos de Maig, but on the Carrer Freser side of the street. Just look for number 5 and you will see a Sant Jordi sign with the Sant Jordi Dragon on it.
• Coming from Sants Estacio Train Station:
• Inside of the train station you will need to find the entrance to the metro. It is at the opposite end of the train station from the McDonalds.
• Take the metro line 5 (blue) in the direction of 'Vall dHebron' to the stop 'Sant Pau/Dos de Maig'.
• When you exit the train at the Sant Pau/Dos de Maig stop you will need to follow the signs that say sortida (exit) Dos de Maig. Be sure that you exit on the street Carrer del Dos de Maig. If you take the wrong exit you will be one city block in the wrong direction.

• We are not far from the corner of Carrer Rosello and Dos de Maig, but on the Carrer Freser side of the street. Just look for number 5 and you will see a Sant Jordi sign with the Sant Jordi Dragon on it.
• Coming from Girona Airport and the Nord Bus Station:
• Take the Barcelona Bus from the airport to Barcelona Nord Bus Station (final destination).
• Once at the Nord bus station you can either take a taxi to the hostel (not too expensive because it's not so far from the hostel) or go with the metro. The metro stop is in the small park just next to the bus station and is named 'Arc de Triomf'.
• The metro line at the 'Arc de Triomf' stop is the line 1 (red). Take the train that goes in the direction 'Fondo' until the stop named 'Clot'.
• When you exit the train at the Clot stop you will have to transfer to the metro line 2 (Purple).
• With the metro line 2 (Purple) you need to take the train in direction Parallel until the stop 'Encants'.
• When exiting the metro station at the Encants stop, after passing through the metro security gates, take the exit to the left (just next to the magazine and newspaper kiosk).
