Small, warm, and friendly I stayed at the Blue Parrot for a week, and loved it! The employees and the other guests were so friendly that I felt right at home, which was important to me as I was traveling by myself. It's in a nice, safe neighborhood, a little far from the CBD, but it's a nice walk across the Botanical Gardens or a short walk to the Kings Cross train station. I highly recommend!

Blue Parrot is not the best value for money you can possibly get, but it's nice, clean, and has a friendly atmosphere. It's also within walking distance of the city. What I found strange was that a check-out before 9 a.m. is an early checkout that has to be done the evening before. I hadn't read the sign and wasn't very popular with the receptionist after that.

it's rather average, not too bad, but not too good either. for the dorm room rate you pay, one could expect more. it doesn't have any kind of decoration or an own character but merely provides the basic (facilities and cleanliness). some of the evening staff are rude and unhelpful, too. i moved to a hostel that was not only cheaper but also a lot better.

I am an independent traveler and stayed in the blue parrot over the new year. Despite it being expensive, this hostel was an excellent choice. Of course, after the new year, the prices came down again so this wasn't an issue. I expect to spend a bit more over this period. The hostel felt like home as soon as I walked through the door. Christina and her daughters were really helpful. The free internet was also amazing -- a big advantage and money-saver too. I was looking to stay again in sydney in blue parrot but i left it too late, all fifty beds booked up. It's so popular and people know it.

A great, small and friendly hostel in Sydney. Close to the attractions of Kings Cross but not too close, walkable into central Sydney. Great facilities and nice seating area outside. Could use a clothes line though! The hostel owner was fastidious about cleanliness - which can only be a good thing! Loved staying here.

This hostel felt like home so quickly! The staff were really helpful and looked after you well. The rooms were clean and sunny with comfortable beds; all linen and towel were provided. The showers were clean and ALWAYS had hot water, which was much appreciated! The common areas are all set up in a cosy way so there's a great family fell to the place, so it's easier to chat to people when you're travelling alone. Right next to a supermarket, twenty types of restaurants on the same road and ten minutes from the harbour or train station. There's nothing more it could have had, I'll definitely be staying there again when i go back to Sydney!

Really nice laid back hostel with friendly helpful staff, and pretty reasonable rates considering the location. I would definitely recommend it.

I loved this hostel. It is very homely and the other backpackers are really friendly. I stayed in the eight-bed women's dorm and the room is huge! With its own en suite, too! The owners are so friendly and will bend over backwards to help you and give you enough information. I was quite sick when I was here and the owner was concerned and recommended me to a doctor! If that's not like being at home I don't know what is! I would definitely go back without a doubt! Stay here if you are staying in Kings Cross!

This has to be the best backpackers ever. This was my home away from home. Without this place I would have gone home early. They found me work when I was down to my last dollar! And they would do the same for anyone! You do make the best friends ever, like LITTLE Dave and Jamie, Jaz, Irish, Linzi, Clare and Chris, just to name a few. These few people made my year in Oz, as well as my home away from home did. Thanks guys, and keep in touch.

The double room here is the nicest hostel room I have ever stayed in. It's airy, bright, clean and funky. The staff are brilliant, and really make you feel at home, and the general vibe is friendly. The terrace and communal areas are comfy and nicely decorated. The location in Potts Point is brilliant — it's seconds away from some really nice restaurants and bars, and an easy 20-minute stroll into the city. The dorms are less comfy, but then you pay a lot less for them.

This hostel is the bomb if you want somewhere long term and to feel like you are one of the family. Christina and Andrew, the owners, are incredibly friendly and make sure that all their guests are looked after. If you need work Andrew will always be willing to help out. The nightshift crew Chris and Dave (Silvertongue) — you two are the best fellows. Cheers. Not forgetting all the regulars — Jazz, Martin, Kirsty, Big Dave, Irish, etc. You made me feel welcome and helped me have the best time whilst I was there. (I still am there and don't want to leave in October!)
It's clean and the beds are comfy and that's ALL you need. I've noticed that many backpackers are so picky about where they stay. And if there is a stain on the carpet in their room or something they go ape! If you want luxury then go to the Hilton! They have Foxtel for those rainy nights in but if you like the odd tipple then there are so many great bars in the surrounding area. Big hostels such as wakeup! They are great for facilities BUT they are just like budget hotels (impersonal). All the money in the world can't buy the comfort of friends like these and the people (who work and reside here) are the salt of the earth. Living in a smaller hostel is the best way to make friends. I recommend this to anyone who is travelling alone (like I am). When I'm back around Christmas I shall be checking in again for sure!
