Refugio Cordillera is a delightful place to stay and feels like a "home away from home." It is a bit out of town, so you need to take the bus in the direction of Llao Llao (about 40 minutes from the center of Bariloche) to kilometer 18.6.
Once you get there, the countryside is well worth it with a very tranquil setting. The hostel has a great environment for socializing, but not in a loud obnoxious way. There is a stereo system with good music, a fire place, a ping pong table, small book exchange corner and a good dining area. Outside there is a BBQ place, and a hammock! It is definitely a great place to meet Argentines and to learn all about mate drinking. The owners help out if you want to BBQ. They also have a small menu from which to order from.
The facilities are kept clean and the bathrooms are pleasant (although the toilet flush is a little weak). The showers are hot and very good. And the rooms are warm and comfortable. Try to ask for a smaller room if possible because the main dormitory can get quite loud with people coming and going, packing and unpacking. You will definitely get a good night's sleep if you stay in one of the smaller rooms.
Smoking is allowed downstairs and many Argentines smoke, so keep that in mind if you don't like smoke. There are also two cats and a dog, but they are kept outside.
