Nightmare This hostel is a nightmare. Don't book it. The room was so small, we couldn't put our luggage in the room. No toilet paper, no towels, very dirty.

The worst place to stay! The pictures look nice, but the place looks nothing like the pictures. Our room was so small we couldn't put our suitcase in the room. It was a total dump. You check-in at a different address from where you'll be staying. After traveling all day it was not enjoyable to drag my luggage across town to a nasty place I thought would be nice. Do not be fooled, this place is not what it looks like. After I told them I would report them to tourist information and I don't think they have the proper permits they gave me my money back. It was the worst one night of my life.

It's a nightmare! Would you like to have the most horrible experience in your life? Book a few nights in this hostel!

Do not book with these people! They canceled our booking (that was made two weeks prior to arrival) less than forty-eight hours before we were due to check -- due to most likely a double booking taken by their incompetent staff. This is the worst customer service I have ever come across. Beware!

to be honest i'm still a little unsure. when we got to the little office i had huge questions of just how professional it was but when we did get to our room, which was up a lot off stairs, there was no lock on our bedroom door. we were given lockers but they weren't nowhere big enough to put all your stuff in. our apartment was full of other guests and we did feel uncomfortable at times but there was only two of us. however it was cheap and the location was absolutely amazing. the little balcony that looked over the centre of le ramblas made my holiday, so if you don't care about what sort of place you stay in, the location was amazing and i still had one of the best weekends of my life!

my advice, stay clear of this dump if you want to have a half decent holiday! bcn loft doesn't even deserve one star. I stayed in the apartment near las ramblas just before christmas and when we arrived to their 'office' to check in we were left waiting for four hours for our apartment and when we finally got in to it after climbing seventy steps with luggage and no warning, the place was filthy dirty and we had to wait another hour for the cleaner to arrive. It was so disappointing and completely wasted a full day and ruined our whole holiday. The staff were ignorant and unhelpful and the owner was an arrogant pig and he didn't even apologise to us for the delay. Stay clear of this place if you want to get a nights sleep and feel safe because you definitely wont feel safe here.

Private Doubles -- everything I had hoped for and so much more. I stayed in one of the private doubles (in a shared apartment off of Tetuan metro stop) with my boyfriend for nine days. It was a wonderful experience! The faculty and "office" is a little disorganized but we were kindly greeted then taken directly to the apartment to move our stuff in. Our room, which had a terrace, was spacious, clean, and secure. The communal kitchen (all very new appliances), two bathrooms and living room were all very spacious and clean as well. We were supplied with everything we needed and more. I strongly recommend these private doubles as opposed to hotels or other public hostels. The great price and opportunities to make meals "at home" was really special and impossible to find anywhere else! We really had a wonderful time in the private double. Really great -- not a single complaint.

I booked the hostal on las ramblas but apparently it was destroyed in a fire. They did not warn me of this and just put is in their hostal in El Raval, near metro stop Sant Antoni. It was a six-bedroom dorm where we had to sleep with seven (one of us had to sleep on the sofa'bed'). This area is known for its prostitutes and drug dealers! On the first night when we came back from watching FCB-Real Madrid, everything got stolen in our appartment and also in the appartments on the other floor. We lost over three thousand euro of stuff. The doors were not forced so the insurance did not cover anything. Somebody had the keys of our apartment and the one above us. The owner refused to contact the police although it was probably someone of the cleaning staff. It ruined our holiday! There were no parties organised by the staff although they mention it on their site. BCN Loft -- never again!

Absolutely terrible. This place tarnished my trip to Barcelona. We arrive at the reception, to find guests checking out early. Since they collect cash before you get to see the rooms 2 couples were taking 150 euro hits just to get out of the hostel. We wait 45 minutes just to be told that they overbooked themselves and have no where for us to stay. We are then directed to another 'hostel'... which was a spare bedroom in this man's apartment, and it was disgusting. No BCN Loft employee ever seems to know how to get in contact with the manager who i went to talk to 5 times but was turned away, and everyone has a different story for you. Completely unprofessional, one of the most frustrating experiences of my life, choose anywhere BUT here to stay in Barcelona if you want to enjoy yourself.

My comment might be a bit late. I stayed at the loft for a whole week two years ago. Last year I tried to book a room in this hostel too, but I was a bit too late, since everything was full allready.
I will not deny that we too had to wait quite a time before we found the reception and someone of the staff to lead us to the hostel. But nevertheless it was a great vacation. Coralie and Mauricio are two very very nice, joyful persons.
Almost every night we met with all the BCN-loft-guests for going out in way to cool places. So you weren't only taken to very nice places, you also got the opportunity to learn to know people from all over the world. That is what I believe one of the main ideas of a hostel: to get people to meet.
I have stayed in several hostels already and I understand that it is nicer to be able to go to your hostel immediately when you arrive, but believe me: you rather want to wait for an hour than to find out your room has been overbooked, like I experienced in an other hostel...
And by the way guys, this is Barcelona! Relax!

It is true what everyone will tell you about this place — the loft itself is nice (the one on Las Ramblas) but it WILL take you 3-4 hours to get sorted. (Yes, there is no central reception — you meet at random on a random street and they give you a 1-3 hour slot where you get your keys, directions, etc.)- The owners are probably the biggest assholes I have ever talked to, and everyone will tell you the same and I should have listened. If you don't believe me book this place and after you've paid (of course, you have to pay before you've even seen the place) watch how the owners treat you when they have your money.

***DO NOT STAY HERE*** I stayed here for just under a week.
1. It is nothing like having your own apartment.
2. The street where the apartment is smells revolting.
3. There are kids who play out side from 7 a.m. till around 10 p.m.
4. The "free Internet access" didn't work or ever get fixed. (I don't think it ever has.)
5. The owners and reps (or what ever they are supposed to be) were rude and unhelpful. They just literally cared about getting the money from you and nothing else.
Here is one incident: We were sitting around the apartment, which was fully booked at the time with 8 people staying. A Spanish lady who claimed to be one of the owners turned up with three girls who had booked to stay. Me and my friends tried to explain to the owner that there were no beds for these girls to sleep in. She just looked at us and said "Yeah.". Because we were speaking English, we had just assumed that she didn't understand what we were saying and repeated ourselves. The reply we got was "Yeah.... I don't care...two of them will have to share a bed or something."
After a few rounds of this, the owner told us to tell two other guests that they were not staying there anymore and that they were to be moved. We said "No, shouldn't you call them to let them know?" She said she didn't have their telephone number and just took these poor girls' money, never to be seen again.
Unless you like being ripped off, spend a couple more euros on a better place.

My friends and I loved BCN Loft! The staff were awesome, they organized pub crawls and bar outings every night! They also had plenty of recommendations for drinking and eating at low prices. Our loft was in a great location (about a 5-minute walk from La Rambla) and it was nice and spacious on the inside. The loft stays clean if everyone does his or her part to keep it that way. (A cleaning lady comes four times a week, so there's really no excuse to say that the loft is unclean!) Sheets and blankets are provided. Free Internet (in all lofts I think). There are kitchen facilities in all lofts. Absolutely wonderful!! Stay at the BCN Lofts!

This place looks absolutely nothing like the pictures on the Web site. It isn't even a proper hostel, it's just random apartments in different places. Everything is dirty and it doesn't feel safe outside, and random people keep coming up to me and trying to sell me cocaine. And there are actually male transvestite prostitutes taking off their clothes on the corner outside.
