Free Style Backpackers Hostel

Free Style Backpackers Hostel is really nice, modern, and comfortable. But the staff are not always nice (we were served by someone very arrogant and impolite) and the music is loud until late. Moreover, the polar blankets are not always sufficient to keep you warm during the night, despite the floor heating.

The Location

Hostel Freestyle is located in the central area of Ushuaia, next to a fancy expensive hotel. Everything you need is within walking distance -- supermarket (La Anonima is quite big), post office, tourism office, and the main street with pubs and restaurants. It's on av. Gobernador La Paz, between streets J.M. de Rosas and 9 de Julio.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms are nice and large, with six bunk beds, lockers, hooks, and all of them have a sea view. There are also useful little shelves by each bed (top and bottom ones) for your alarm clock and a few other personal items. The bed cover is a thin polar fleece, which gives a lot of static electricity in the cold weather of Ushuaia and is sometimes not warm enough.

There are also private rooms with private bathroom and kitchenette. The rooms are decorated with nice, dark wood for a Swiss chalet feel, while the cream-coloured ceramic floor is heating the whole place. The bathrooms (unisex) are nice and modern, with several sinks and mirrors, two showers, and two toilets. The only concern is the lack of private changing space -- you get out of your clothes in the bathroom (open, anyone can come in) and then jump into the shower, hiding your nudity behind the frosted glass shower panels.

Common Spaces

The common areas consist of the kitchen, the dining area with tables and chairs, just by the three computers (they charge for internet access), also the patio area for barbecues and the laundry room (paying). It's a "cool" hostel and everyone on the road has a friend recommending it. The crowd there are popular, fun-loving travelers and they can keep the music going till quite late (around midnight) and this is very audible in the dormitories. The price of a room includes breakfast, consisting of a variety of bread, cereals, jam, butter, dulce de leche, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate.

Summary

The Freestyle Hostel is basically a party hostel, where cool people hang out and spend time drinking and playing music. It's not a place to be unsociable or to sleep long hours, but you can meet some nice, outgoing people there.
