A small, family-run resort on Waya Island, the Bayside Resort is located three hours from Denarau Marina, with the Awesome Adventures catamaran. Beware that according to the driver's mood, an extra fee for the taxi boat may apply to go from the catamaran to the resort.
Nancy and her father will give you a genuine welcome in their little paradise. The hostel can accommodate up to fifteen people. There are three beachfront bures, with bunk beds, doubles, and single beds. They are charming with a lovely Fijian style.
Freshly cooked meals using local products are provided. You can even have homemade pancakes for breakfast. There is no alcohol or food for sale in the resort. Big eaters will have sufficient food portions and if you are a vegetarian, they will look after you as well. There is neither electricity nor hot water. Even if the shared shower and toilet are very basic, it is quite easy to get used to living at a Fijian pace. With these simple amenities, as you don't need more.
If you are looking for a luxury place, or if you're a party animal, this is not the right place for you. Some walks around the place, as well as a trip to the school and village could be a way of spending your time on the island. You can also borrow the old but free snorkeling gear. If you would rather spend your time on the beach, try the hammocks. It is a small and quiet place, great for meeting people -- once the night comes around 6 o'clock, you may enjoy a chat and a game around the light of the lantern.
