The Backcountry Hostel

The Backcountry Hostel (formerly the Flying Squirrel Hostel) is a brand new business, with newly renovated rooms. Each room has a full bathroom and private rooms come with cable TV. We have an internet cafe, laundry services, a large common area, a fully equipped common kitchen and plenty of group activities. Large dogs are allowed (with a deposit and upon owner's approval). We offer a free, safe lock-up for your luggage or sports equipment, and can assist you in planning your time in the Kootenay backcountry. From whitewater rafting to downhill mountain biking, from skiing/boarding to fishing on private charters, we can help you plan your stay . . . whether you prefer a package tour or just want to find your own way around local trails and sights on your own. The hostel is a convienient walking distance from all major shopping, banks and the post office, as well as all of Nelson's many hip restaurants, bars and cafes. Looking forward to seeing you!!
