West Side Inn Hostel & Hotel has everything you need to stay -- easy access to/from downtown, stores and restaurants around the hostel, safe premises, and affordable price.

The Location

It is easy to access from the downtown, and also easy to find. You can take subway #1 or 9 to either 103 St. or 110 St. Be careful, #2 and #3 train will not stop either station. After getting off the subway, go along Broadway northward, and turn right at 107th St. Then, you'll find Hostel (237) on your left. There are several supermarkets and cafes that will make your hostel life comfortable!

Rooms and Bathrooms

There are several types of room. The four-bed room has TV, desk, closet, chair, and a stand mirror. In winter time, the oil heater works very well (sometimes too hot!). There is no locker for individuals in the room. There are three bathrooms on each floor and one is a little larger than the others. Usually, they will be cleaned on weekday morning (but it seems not on weekends). The toilet and bathroom often have trouble with drains. The dorm rooms are mixed, but there is enough space for changing clothes in bathrooms with hooks.

Common Spaces

There is a small kitchen on each floor. It has stove, small fridge, and a microwave. There are two paid internet-accessible computers in a small room on the ground floor. There is also a vending machine and a change machine near the front. Maps, discount coupons, and local information magazines are also available around the front.

Summary

Totally, this is a good place for an economical trip. The drawbacks of this hostel/hotel may be the staff (they may be changed by the time you stay), and some hidden extra fees/change of the price. The attitudes of the staff (daytime females) are nothing but rude. As for the fees, when you pay the rest of the amount to the front, Room Tax and Occupation Tax will be added. The fee for the storage room is also changed to the same amount as leaving your bag at the Greyhound storage at Port Authority Bus Terminal on 42nd Street.
