Good location, shame about the rest.
I stayed here for four nights in summer 2007 and both me and my friend were attacked by bedbugs! I had scars for months from these. Also our room leaked during a thunderstorm, which ruined the clothes and shoes that my friend had left next to her bed. The staff were apologetic and offered to move us to the only other room they had free but this one leaked even more! If it hadn't been for these I would recommend the tropics as it is very well located and the pool and outside areas are nice.

There s nothing else i can say apart from that i had the best time ever in this hostel during my travel around the U.S.A. Spent three weeks at Tropics (august 2006), met a lot of nice people and new friends, every night there was something going on! If you travel on your own and are worried not to find any crazy mate to experience Miami nightlife, just stay at Tropics and you'll see -- no time to rest or get bored! stay at Tropics and you won't regret!

Really great. Stayed in a four-bed dorm with own bathroom. it is a hostel, therefore not luxury but more than ok. you see that people have lived there -- cleaning every day. a kitchen and outdoor-cooking place. a pool to relax. perfect location! close to everything -- beach, shopping, nightlife, supermarket, bus stops. very nice and helpful staff (twenty-four hours). felt secure. would go there again for sure!

I found the hostel frightening, the staff rude, but it does have the advantage of location. It's only one street away from the beach. There were some very interesting guests when I was staying there and I made sure that the door was locked and stuff was piled up against it every night. No such a good place to stay.

This was a great hostel. I had a private room and it was very clean and even had a walk-in closet. When I go back to Miami I will definitely stay here again.

This hostel is disgusting. From the rude staff to the people smoking in the dorms and reception area, it smelt real bad and the dorms were real dirty. We had no power for a day and a half which meant cold showers and nothing to cook with, no explanation given. Although the location is great i would not stay here again, very different to the description given on the internet.

I have stayed at this hotel/hostel several times over the past years and every time it was just great. Other places are sometimes cool; you never know but so far it was all good experiences here. The swimming pool is awesome. Front staff are very polite and decent. That is important in South Beach. :) Also the location on Collins is close to the ocean! There's one street to cross and then the walkway to the sea. Wonderful area, lots of great things to see and do, as South Beach is the place to be. You go for the clubs if you want to but you could relax at this hotel and have the relaxing daytime feel of Miami. :)
