Rude staff
I was working as exchange instructor in Vietnam for the whole month of June. Everyone in the University seems nice and I had a good time there. However when I went to Ho Chi Min city on June 28 to June 30, 2008 and stayed at the Yellow House hotel on 31 Bui Vien Street near Ben thanh market. The events there have hurt my feeling. That hotel is family run hotel. This hotel is cheap hotel with bad attitude staff. Although it provides free breakfast but in room, a/c doesn't work with uncover fan that got ready to cut any part of the body during the night. The younger sister seems nice but the older sister and the bro have bad attitude. On the day i arrived, the power went off and i had the research items need to be refrigerated. I asked to borrow the ice box but they don't have. It was ok, i went out to buy ice to pack in the fridge. On the day i left (i stayed for two nights) i paid for the hotel and asked if someone could help me to take the luggage down. I also asked the woman staff if the water was free. She said it was free. I was so happy so i took one bottle to drink to the lobby downstairs. Then they asked for money for three bottles of water. I told them the staff said water was free, the older sister said it was not free and it was my mistake not their staff's. I said if water was not free she should tell her staff to say it right. This older sister has bad attitude. She said i was the guest who bothered her young sister all the time from what just i asked about how to get to Ben thanh market and how was Cu Chi island that I want to visit. She looked at me with bad look every time I came in as if i was a bad woman. They saw me came here alone and I am the asian girl. During the conversation between this older sister, the bro who claimed himself as manager came to me and yelled rudely at me to shut up and i said why i had to shut up when i did not do any wrong. I suggested their staff to tell customers that water was not free. He got temper and kicked luggage out of the hotel. You choose by yourself if you like them.

Don't go here
I had no hot water, and later on, no one had any water at all. The staff told me they had these problems quite often. The place was dirty. Some guests needed bug spray before they could sleep (not for a few mosquitoes). The pictures are not what it is really like. Be prepared to walk many stairs. My bed was very hard. (hardest in whole of vietnam.)

great location
As I was on a budget I got a single room with no window and no A/C, it didn't matter to me though. Bed was comfortable, bathroom clean and location was great. Also staff was very helpfull too and spoke good English. They serve really nice breakfest in a morning too. The room that I got looked nothing like those in a picture though and was 6$ per night.
