Very fun atmosphere
While this hostel was a little hard to find, it was totally worth it. It was run by four Chilean brothers who were a blast to hang out with. We only planned on staying two days and ended up staying eight. It really just depends on how uptight of a traveler you are.

This hostel is a joke. I stayed here in March 2005 and it looks like it hasn't gotten better. The only good thing about this hostel was the backpackers. We all bonded over how dodgy this place was. No hot water, no receptionist, and if things haven't changed, they don't really have a reliable online booking system. When I got there at 7 a.m., the only worker awake let me take a bed and rest until the real receptionists got there. Essentially, I could have stayed there for free because they didn't even know I hadn't checked in. If you pick this place out of desperation, you have been warned.

This Hostel is fake! I went there and it appeared to be illegal and we heard stories about other travelers who were scammed here! Don't go there! It could spoil your stay in Barcelona!

This hostel is the worst I have ever seen! I wouldn't recommend it to anyone! Actually I had a terribly unpleasant experience about it! First of all, it's not very easy to find, though the location is not bad as near to a underground station. But the problem is that there is no signpost guiding you to the hostel. You have to ask people for directions several times in the street before you finally find it. We arrived around 8 in the morning and we had to wait some time before the receptionist on the second floor would let us in. When we got upstairs, we were shocked to see that the receptionist was wearing nothing but only his underwear. He showed no sign of going to put his clothes on, and kept complaining that we disturbed his sleep -- he actually shouted, "Oh my God! It's early in the morning and you doorbells rang me up!". He seemed disoriented, and it really took a long time for him to figure out that we had indeed booked a room -- I reasonably doubted that he did it on purpose, so we could 'enjoy' the scene of he wearing an underwear. And yet, we could not check in because it was 'too early' in the morning and our room was not at that location. It was somewhere else, and we were asked to wait there for an hour for somebody to pick us up. I had been aware that they had two locations before arrival, but it seemed suspicious since in our booking confirmation it said that we got a room at that very location. We couldn't 'escape' faster from this terrible place! We lied that we would come back later in the day and we were taking our luggages with us. Of course we couldn't cancel the booking then, since it must be cancelled with seventy-two hours notice. But we wouldn't risk our safety to stay there (oh, please! A staff with pants?!). By the way, we saw the rooms and the beds. It just did not look like a nice hostel (but if you don't mind, it's not that unbearable). So, now you guys know why it's the last hostel in the whole world that I would recommend! I have to rate it one star since there is no zero, or minus! Barcelona is wonderful and perfect except for this horrible experience with this hostel!

I had a really good time at this hostel; you get what you pay for.

Oh my god! What a very bad hostel! The worst I had ever seen! How can they call this place a hostel. Firstly, you have to find it, so good luck because there are no signs and no logos. After that (if you found the "hostel" of course) you meet the staff, and now, what a f***ing joke. If these persons are a real staff, I'm the Queen Elizabeth. They can't give you any information and they are very unpleasant. Then, you have to discover your room and now, damnation, you have to share a very little room with 15 others unlucky travellers. Of course these rooms are not clean. There are only two bathrooms for about 60 persons. I hated this "hostel" and awaited the day I got to leave it. I give 1 star because I can't give 0. So, if you want to have good holidays, don't come here!

Stay away from this hostel. They have an inaccessible building where if you arrive when there is no one at the gate, you will need to call the hostel to let you in. They have two locations and one of them is not in Las Ramblas, so when you get there you might have to walk 20 minutes to the other location. Staff was hostile and unsympathetic.

This "new" hostel is not very new. We had no hot water, and the rooms were too crowded and not very clean. They did not have enough lockers for all the beds, and it was very unorganized. The staff were unprofessional and could not answer any questions about Barcelona. I would definitely not stay there ever again and won't recommend it to anyone. The only good thing was the location, which is not a problem as there are lots of other hostels nearby.

The only good thing about this hostel is the location. Finding this place is nearly impossible and oddly there is no sign outside the door of this place. We were less than impressed with the facilities at this hostel. There was only one bathroom (1 toilet and 1 shower) to be shared between about 15 people. This was extremly annoying. After arriving in Barcelona I was looking forward to a hot shower but there was no hot water. Although I brought this to the attention of the staff the problem wasn't fixed. The bathrooms were extremly gross and none of the walls in the place were even painted. The large dorm room is really crowded. There also didn't appear to be enough lockers to go around. I had to use a locker that was in another room which was a hastel because everytime I needed something I had to disrupt the people staying in the other room. I'm not sure why this place is called the "new" hostel...nothing appears new. If your not concerned about cleanliness or hot water this might be the place for you. Otherwise I wouldn't suggest staying at this place.
