It took us around twenty minutes to walk to Witch's Hat from the train station, but taxis are readily available should you not wish to walk. The hostel lies in the heart of the Northridge district of Perth, which is good for cafes, bars, restaurants, and clubs. The center of Perth is easily walkable and takes around twenty minutes.
From the outside, Witch's Hat is probably the best-looking hostel we have stayed at. The inside isn't too bad either. The place is run by a guy called Hopper who used to be a tour guide for a large Australian tour company and really could not be any more helpful. If you want to know anything about Perth or the surrounding area, ask him.
The hostel is clean all round. There are bathrooms for both male and female, and also some shared. The kitchen has ample cooking facilities and plenty of utensils to go around. There is a large eating area outside undercover and also just adjacent to the kitchen is an area inside. The lounge area is large and has a huge plasma television on the wall. At the rear of the lounge there are also four terminals for using the internet -- just see Hopper to buy the prepay cards.
The bedrooms are well prepared. They come with bed linen so sleeping bags are not required. Some of the rooms have televisions already in them. There are enough plug sockets to recharge your phones and cameras. There is also a laundry, should you require it. They request that nobody makes excessive noise beyond 10 p.m., which everyone appears to comply with.
