• In Winter the village is buzzing with snowsport activity.

• HIKING & WALKING:
• The Mount Somers Sub-Alpine Walkway; A two day hike only 15 minutes away from Alpenhorn.
• The Rakaia Gorge Walkway; Jetboat up the gorge for only $25 per person, then hike back, it takes about 2 hours.
• The Cameron Glacier Hike; A more challenging two day non-technical hike to a back country hut at the foot of a remote glacier.
• The Methven Walkway; A delightful walk (Mountain bike) on flat terrain, that follows a canal through rural countryside.

• Trout & Salmon.
• 4WD TOURS
• Visit remote backcountry and high country stations. Or journey to Edoras (Lord of the Rings) Stay the night in a backcountry hut. Fully catered tours.
