The Hollydean Lodge has seen better days. It is basically clean but is very old fashioned and in need of renovation which appears to be underway.
It is a large building with plenty of space with a large kitchen and dining area and a few TV lounges. The double rooms are small and basic. The rooms at the front of the building can be a bit noisy as the road is busy and the sound of the pedestrian crossing can drive you mad!
But this is offset by the good location. You can walk straight down Campbell Street down to the harbour at Sullivans Cove. From here it is a short walk to Salamanca Place which is the center of Hobart nightlife, there are some good pubs and restaurants on the way too.
The hostel does pick ups from the bus terminal and the Airport Shuttle picks up close by. Many of the adverts I have seen for the Lodge say a continental buffet breakfast is included but that is not the case.
