Arena Hostel

Stayed in late june/early july of last year. Had an outstanding time. The wicked bar in the basement helps with it. The staff was friendly, the rooms clean. Great showers, hot and clean. Food can be purchased if you make friends with the bar manager downstairs. Breakfast is available. The internet was cheap, but hard to get time using. Had a wonderful time. The bar is an old wine cellar, really well lit and usually a bunch of really chill people are down there. Smoke some doobage in the bar, relax, smoke a cigar, and for sure hit up the a bombs at midnight (drop shot of absynthe and red bull 400kc)

I LOVED this hostel! It was awesome. Everyone was friendly. We got to use FREE Internet. I met the coolest people in the dorm room. The sheets were clean. This hostel is very new and renovated. It has a great downstairs with a FULL bar (try the A-bombs at midnight). I had such a great time in Prague thanks, in part, to this establishment. If you're new to Prague it's a perfect place to stay because it's so close to the Metro station. There's also an INCREDIBLE restaurant on the same street...like five doors down. It is far from the main attractions, but there is a great late-night bus that stops very near.

The location is far from the sites but that doesn't mean it's any quieter. It's on a tramline which runs all night; which can be a good thing if you're out late but a bad thing if you want to have some peace and quiet. The dorms are filthy; which may be an unfair assessment because it always depends on the people you share the somewhat cramped 12 bed dorms with, but our room was only cleaned twice in the 6 days we spent in Prague. You take the good with the bad though because it only cost €10 a night. Make sure your needlessly 'modern' key card is activated for both the security door and your room or you'll annoy the hell out of your dormmates. Also, the hostel demands payment in full right when you check in, so be prepared to part with a lot of Crowns...or in our case a few Euro as well. Another bad point for those who like to sleep, the bar is open late and the rowdies who return to their rooms late make a lot of noise coming up the stairs and through the cavernous, echoing hallways. *** Bottomline: Spend the extra Crowns/Euros and find a place further into town! ***
