Besprechung von Hostelz.com
This is how all hostels should be run! You can see that they have been travellers in their time as they really have thought of all the things that both annoy and please backpackers and used their experiences to make sure their resort is one of the best around.

The double rooms are simple but spacious with an en-suit and small balcony. There's plenty of communal space with a TV lounge, large open eating/TV area and a pool with tables and loungers. The set up makes the resort sociable and allows the staff to see what's going on. The kitchen is large and well equipped and the staff do everything to make ensure equipment and the kitchen is clean and tidy.

There's always lots of things going on either in the resort or in local venues, and the resort has the details of all the freebies. Shuttle buses are available to the airport or into town, but the resort is only about 15-20 mins walk to the city centre. It's located on Beaufort Street which runs down past Perth Train Station and is really easy to find.

The atmosphere in the resort is lively and friendly and the staff really can't do enough for you.

Good facilities and nice pool area outside to socialise and meet people. When i first arrived it was good but the staff are possibly the rudest people you'll come across -- Warren especially is a f***ing idiot with an attitude problem, Tony at night is a bit of a headcase, and they are getting more and more anal about rules, long-termers, stopping people have fun.

Booked this as the free airport pick up made the overall package very competitive. However, when we rang from the airport we were given an off pat -- get a taxi. On arrival the reception staff said they were unable to pick up when they are busy. As he then continued they were always busy, we took it that a airport pick up was a rare event. Indeed while we where there we never saw or heard of anyone getting an airport pick up or drop off. When we asked about a drop off we were advised to get a taxi again. So our taxis cost us $60. Don't book this place if you're counting on airport transportation, it is very unlikely to happen. We had booked a twin bed room and were put in a room with two double bunk beds. The bathroom was a bit dirty and grotty. Three nights in our five-night stay we were woken up by noisy people returning after 1 a.m., on one occasion three times. The kitchen was pretty good, spacious with plenty of cooking facilities and ample fridge space. The pool area tables were usually dirty, whatever time of day you used them. The food available in the small café and vending machines were competitively priced. The location of the resort was poor, a good fifteen-minute walk from the Central Business District. Quite a task bringing back your water and shopping in 42 degree heat.

This hostel is big, clean, and has lots of facilities. But the noise! Last night I was awakened at 3 a.m. by a group of screaming imbeciles outside. They had just arrived home from their night out and stood making a racket about who had shagged whom and who had seen whose tits (seriously) for absolutely ages. There is twenty-four-hour reception but no one did anything. Then when they came inside they started to play the piano and the guitar. So if you like to sleep don't come here. If you like to make other people miserable and are inconsiderate it is the place for you. It's a shame because it is a really good set-up apart from this.

This is a good hostel as in clean, it has a pool, free breakfast, and a little shop but the staff is utterly rude. i do not expect to be waited on hand & foot but but do expect someone to be civil to me. You have to ask for all your cooking accessories and hand in your key until you bring everything back clean which i wouldnt mind but with the rude staff (except Katie) and size of this hostel you are waiting a long time (not good after a long day at work). the night staff are worse on the weekend -- you cant have a few drinks in the common area as they turn off the lights and tell you to shut up every ten mintues. Also if you are staying a long term they do not look after you -- i was there two and a half months and was moved over ten times -- yes ten! And not because i wanted to! You could save money and time in the mornings by staying closer to the city if you intend to work there.

Great place! What was most important for me and the boyfriend was that it was clean! So the bathroom smelled of bleach initially but it faded and you feel safe knowing that it's been disinfected from the previous guest. Breakfast provided was ample, they even gave a choice of white or whole wheat bread, and good healthy choices of cereal, they provide fridges and space to keep your groceries. The staff were not so friendly at times, but who cares! You're there to enjoy your holiday, not be waited on hand and foot. And besides, you're in a hostel, hello! (and if you were dealing with a bunch of oft rowdy and young backpackers enjoying life, wouldn't you be a bit tired?) There were no bedbug bites and no suspect stains anywhere, no bizarre smells, everything worked, running hot water, what more could you ask for?

Don't let the hype fool you — yes this place is ok, but it's not so great, and its a long bloody way from town, and unfortunately you have to walk past some quite unsavory characters that gather on the nearby park if you're walking back late at night. We moved from here to another place in central Northbridge and were much closer to everything we needed. Billabong is clean but too big and like a hospital for my liking. We also didn't have much joy getting little simple requests met by the staff. It's clean, but like all good hospitals.

This is a lovely hostel on the surface with everything you could wish for including pool, Internet, and free breakfast every morning. The rooms were nice too, with en suite bathroom and a massive TV room. I met some great people there, too. The staff when I was there, though, were pretty unfriendly. Everything seemed to be a massive effort and they were completely unhelpful when I asked for advice re booking tours, too. A real shame, as I would've stayed for a lot longer had it not been for that.

One of the best hostels I've stayed in. It has good-sized clean rooms with en suite bathrooms, a big clean kitchen, and a lovely staff. They give you good recommendations for nights out. And it's cheap! I stayed here for two weeks and didn't want to leave!

Simply put: Billabong Hostel RULES! It is by far the best hostel I've stayed in on my travels. If your going to Perth you've gotta stay here -- it's cheap, clean, friendly, has a pool (which is great for bombing in), volleyball court (unfortunately the unbeatable Team Top Gun are no longer there though), basketball ring, loads of filth and a park right next door perfect for football. They even organize matches between travellers and the local Foreign Language school pupils. The winners get a bar tab in one of Northbridge's bars. When I was there I met a great bunch of people and had an amazing time so go ch-ch-check it out yourselves boys & girls. Paddle Club 4 Life! Oh, watch out for the French Monster Hunter who lurks around there though.
