Beschreibung
The HI-Olympic Hostel is located on the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state, about sixty miles northwest of Seattle, at Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend. Housed in a former WWII barracks building it is situated on "the hill" just above the main campus, with spectacular views toward the south; across the fields and bluffs out into Port Townsend Bay, and over the water and mountains toward Mt. Rainier. The hostel building is one of several in this early 20th-century Army fort that is located in an Historic Landmark District.
This small 30-bed hostel has men and women's dormitories, with twin-size beds, along with several private rooms for couples and families, most containing queen-size beds. All domestic-style bathrooms have showers and are shared with other rooms. Upstairs is a fully-equipped common kitchen with refrigerators, stoves and ovens, a microwave, and plenty of storage space for your food perishables. While the hostel does not offer any formal food services (there is a deli on the campus) there is a small breakfast served each morning. The kitchen joins the common room lounge containing seating and eating areas along with a piano. There is plenty of free parking just out back.
Please note: There is no admittance to the hostel from 10:30 until 5:00 p.m. Office hours are from 7:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m., and from 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. Guest checkout is at 9:30 a.m.
HI-member overnight rates are $25/person (non-members: $28). Children under 18 years of age traveling with their parent or guardian stay for $18/night. Private rooms for couples, please note an additional $10/night surcharge. (Two HI-member adults in a private room: $25 + $25 + $10 = $60/night.) Reservations may be made any evening between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. with a MasterCard or Visa by calling (360) 385-0655. This may also be done via email at olympichostel@olympus.net.
Hostelling Internationl memberships may be purchased from the Olympic Hostel and cost $28 per year, from date of purchase, for Adults; $18 per year for Seniors (over 55); Youth (under 18) FREE membership card.
There is easy access from Seattle using public transportation. Contact Jefferson Transit at www.jeffersontransit.com or 1-800-371-0497 for schedules. Round-trip fare (ferries and buses) is about $12. Travel time is about two hours. All buses have bicycle racks. Please have exact change.
