Besprechung von Hostelz.com
The Globe Backpackers is an easy sell over the internet. It is close to nightclubs and downtown, reasonably priced, has shuttle service from the airport, plus funky artistic murals on the walls making for a seemingly interesting atmosphere.

There are sheets for the bed, however there is no indication of any blankets. They will be provided if you ask for one. There are only about two bathrooms for the entire place as one is not working. The bathrooms include showers so people will be waiting for the bathroom to become free for about twenty minutes as someone would be in the bathroom taking a shower. This is a loud hostel, both inside and outdoors, as there are an abundance of nightclubs and dance bars around.

The rooms could have been cleaner. We did not receive a pillowcase. The carpet is dirty and could use a real good vacuum. There is no place to chill out. There is a table in the games room but there are guys in there playing video games, which makes for a relatively noisy experience. The room beside the games room stays relatively loud as people play video games into late hours of the night.

The Globe should mention to prospective guests that the hostel in the Red Light District. Some people may be a bit turned off by the hookers and seedy guys roaming the streets below, the numerous adult toy stores, and XXX video outlets, not to mention the plethora of strip joints along the way. Girls may feel very uncomfortable staying in this part of town.

The breakfast in the morning is cornflakes and toast and Weetabix -- everything that tastes like nothing. The Hostel is close to Kings Cross, which provides access to a lot of sights in Sydney.

Arrived in Sydney after twenty-four hours of flying from Canada. The Globe at first seemed a bit scary to me, but being my first time away and in the middle of kings cross, what do you expect? The staff were very nice and right to the point so you didn't have to keep asking questions. I stayed here four nights over my birthday and only paid 12 a night. Amazing deal! Included a free breakfast (toast, cereal, coffee/tea) and some internet when I could get it. The rooms were basic which made them easy to clean when the cleaning staff came through everyday. The TV room was a bit small but I never really seen it full, the smoking room was far enough away that it never bothered me, and the games room was pretty fun as well. Only realy problem that I noticed was with the lockers in each room, our room only had two that you could lock, the clasps on the others were broken. i never felt like anything could have been stolen, I got on well with the staff and others but you never know.

Considering that I only paid fifteen dollars per night, I got what you pay for. There is nothing really wrong with the hostel, the staff are friendly and very approachable. It could be cleaner in all areas and it certainly is smack bang in the most colourful part of King's Cross, but don't let that put you off as it's surprisingly quiet at night. It's across the road from the train station so that is handy for getting around. I booked this hostel in part because of the reviews on hostelz.com, however I don't think I would stay in it again. I prefer really clean places with lots of toilets, something that is lacking in the Globe. All in all, it's a pretty average place to stay.

Fantastic value! We paid $50 per night for double room with TV and sink, also in room. The area is a little "colorful," but do not be put off by this. The bus tours for Bondi and The City are all outside and there is a Woolworth's down the road! Staff are friendly. Be careful if you're arriving in the wee hours, as we had to wait a while until some patrons opened the door before we could check in!

I stayed here for a week when I was in Sydney in February this year. There were six of us so we had a room to ourselves and it was one of the best places we stayed. It had friendly staff, good facilities and it was close to lots of wicked nightlife. I'd definitely come back!

I arrived in Sydney not knowing anyone but found a new 'family' at the Globe. This place is close to everthing but not cold and sanitised like most of city the hostels. Fantastic/helpful staff and great social atmosphere!

I stayed at The Globe for six months and couldn't get away. They call it "the coolest." It is. Especially the staff and the parties.
