This hostel is very busy. It's in the largest city in Alaska. Make sure, you have reservation, before get there! The good news is, there is no sales tax in Anchorage.
They have two kitchens and four bathrooms. The dorms are a little tight, but ok, and can sleep up to 6 people. The kitchen and dining areas are separated, so you don't have to cook in the crowd. If you need to wash your clothes, there is a common laundry in the hostel. The bathrooms are full bathrooms with wide space and bathtub -- the best place for frozen toes!
They try to keep it as clean as possibble, and they succeed, so there are no shoes permitted in the building. You can find a lot of information in the common areas. It's a good "base camp". The staff are helpful, but they open late in the afternoon (7:00PM).
The hostel is accessable by the bus #7 from the airport and the city and the #36 from the city. The bus stops are within a 5 minute walk, but you have to ride to downtown around a half an hour. Bicycle rental is available, $10 per day. It's a good alternative for bus or ride on the shore -- even to watch the moose.
