Besprechung von Hostelz.com
A medium size hostel 9 blocks from the train station. There is also a metro stop about a block away. There are two floors with seven rooms total. Five of the rooms have their own bathrooms, and the bathrooms are generally clean. The owner can be very friendly, but he can also be easily irritated and even hostile if you aren't careful to stay on his good side. For common areas there is a kitchen on each floor with stove and refrigerator, and there is a little TV area in the hallway. There is a computer for internet access (not free). It's also air conditioned.

We hated this hostel so much that we left Rome a day early. We even told the filthy owner Dario that we didn't like it and no refund was offered. This is not a hostel -- it's a converted apartment building. Everyone that works there is a sleazebag. Anton and Omar were both disgusting, and you couldn't pay me to stay there again. the whole place was dirty, and there was no free coffee and tea all day as promised. There is also an 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. lockout -- also nowhere mentioned on any website. They have all that time to steal your things, and Anton admitted to us that he loves to steal. This place was horrible and I would never lay eyes on it again.

This man is filthy. I can't believe this trash pit is still open! It is horrendous, the Mario is horrendous, abusive, and drunk -- and if you are going to Rome and this is your only place to stay, please cancel your trip. Don't stay here!

Do not stay here. I booked this place on another Web site for four nights. When I turned up I was not allowed in (the owner didn't like the look of me). I was left with nowhere to stay. I'm pretty glad I didn't end up here, though, considering all the comments. DO NOT stay here!!!

I stayed here with one other person and had a wonderful time. Mario was extremely friendly with us and all of the guests in the hostel. He did have a curfew at 11:00 but we let him know that we would all be late and he just asked for a deposit for the key. We got it back and had absolutely no trouble at all with him. His Russian girlfriend, or whatever she was, was very nice as well. He did like his alcohol though. I do know that. But he was not out of control by any means. I'm glad I did not read any of these reviews because there is no way that I would have stayed there, but I am so glad that I did. Mario was the nicest hostel owner that I ran into in 7 countries. Like one of the girls said, I think if you are polite to Mario and respect his rules then he will be nice to you. Hopefully these horrible posts will stop because I know I had a great time there.

I stayed there a few years ago. It was actually okay. I must have been lucky, and the owner probably won the lottery or something the day before. I've stayed at worse places.

The Navigator was the third place I visited in July 2004 and I was grateful to find somewhere to stay — but not for long. Mario is a real sleaze, a really perverted guy who obviously drinks way too much. It's more like his flat than a hostel and he runs it with his Russian (?) girlfriend (wife?). Everyone in my room was laughing when a slight breeze came in the window as we tried to sleep (maybe someone walked past on the street?) and that was the only air-conditioning we could hope for — the place is a sauna!!! Air-conditioning my butt! It was the same with the curfew — lights out at 11 and no talking or you get told off. I got told off for trying to have a shower at 11 p.m. after arriving back late! The owners won't shut up or leave you alone, they follow you everywhere and are waiting when you wake up in the morning to interrogate you further on everything you do. The owner's wife stood in the hallway in her pajamas watching you to make sure you weren't staying up or chatting. I never got a chance to use the kitchen — I waited till it was too late — 9 p.m.! Forty-two beds? I don't know how they fit that many beds in. We had about four bunks in our room and as far as I know there was only one other room there. This place sucks, it's not friendly. Don't waste your money!!

I stayed at this HELLHOLE in October, 2001 and I never wrote a review because I did not know this website existed until now. We were three women travelling together and my two friends and I got sucked into staying at this NAZI PRISON CAMP by a man at the Rome Train Station. After we had paid our money and handed in our passports, we witnessed a young Canadian girl being verbally (and almost physically) abused by the owner who was blind drunk! When we attempted to stand up for the poor girl, we were also abused and threatened. We were forced to walk the streets of Rome late at night to find another place to stay after he threw us out! SERIOUSLY! NEVER EVER STAY HERE!!!

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOSTEL!!! That is if you value your life! Myself and another female friend pre-booked this place for two nights, and on our first night we were kicked out after attempting to make a cup of coffee in the kitchen!! The owner got very aggressive and was shouting and shaking his fists at us, demanding that we leave right away! Luckily for two us (2 young females), we were sharing a room with two American guys who thankfully kept the owner physically away from us! We packed our bags as fast as we could and ran out of the place! This hostel is hell. I would sleep on the streets of Rome before telling anyone to stay here! Never stay here, you will not be safe!

This hostel doesn't even deserve one star! NEVER STAY HERE. I'm serious; if you value your safety keep well away. The owner kicked us out because we were making coffee at 9:10 and the curfew for the kitchen was 9:00. He got very aggressive with my friend, threw the hot water, and threw us both out of the hostel at 10:00, accusing us of calling "his woman" a liar because she hadn't told us about the curfew. So we were stranded in Rome and decided to get the first train out of Italy! To be honest I'd prefer to sleep in the streets than here, it was a blessing that we were kicked out.

Don't stay here ever!!! This place is crazy and very unsafe. The owner is a crazy drunk who is abusive and very scary. I am so happy that we got kicked out only hours after we checked in. It was a blessing that we got kicked out because this place is NOT safe, especially for girls or even anyone. He actually made me cry because he scared me so much and was so creepy. We were about to open a closet for lockers and then he immediately yelled at us, and watched our every move! Just don't stay there EVER, it's such a bad scary place and the owner is crazy. It's not safe, and not a place anyone should even consider.

Do NOT stay here!!! We got KICKED OUT!!! From the moment I arrived at this hostel with 4 friends, I knew I didn't like it. It was really sketchy and scary. The owner told us to take our time and drop our bags off. Within 5 minutes he was yelling at us to leave, because they are closed from 11am-2pm. We went back at 8:00 that night to change, and he told us that we needed to leave and that we couldn't stay there!!! We were stranded in Rome with no place to stay. I was actually kind of glad, because I did NOT want to sleep there!! It is NOT safe! There weren't lockers (we had to leave our bags out) or air conditioning in our room. It was smoky, and our bedroom door did not lock. We noticed that he was watching us an awful lot, and we got a strange feeling about the owner. Do not stay here!!!

I stayed at this hostel back in November 2002. I am surprised that it hasn't been shut down yet. My friend and I both had the same experiences when we stayed there for two nights (it was supposed to be four nights). I have to say that when we were there the bathroom was spotless (that's the reason we decided to stay). It turned out, though, that it was becasue the manager of the hostel worked the poor Albanian girl to death. When he was not making out with her in the tiny kitchen/hallway, he was hitting on women staying there, verbally abusing the men they were with, or kicked people out for cooking past 9pm. He definitely had control issues! DO NOT STAY HERE! You will not feel safe and it just might ruin your time in Rome.
