Besprechung von Hostelz.com
The first challenge with the Alberg Juvenil Palau is finding it. The streets of the Barri Gotic make navigation difficult. The hostel is located off the left side of the Ramblas, about three quarters of the way down toward the Port. Finding the hostel entails navigating the maze of narrow streets, so make sure you have a good map and know where to go.

The hostel is a basic, clean place on the third floor of a classic Barcelona apartment building. There is no lift so bags must be carried up the stairs. Rooms are generally clean and are available with four, six, or eight beds. Each room has a small balcony that looks out over the street below which can be a nice place to sit and read or chill out. Lockers are available in the dorms and the beds are reasonably comfortable. The bathrooms are clean but afford little privacy.

The hostel has a large kitchen which is available from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. and these times are quite strictly enforced. There is a television in the common room. The hostel does not have much of a party vibe. A basic breakfast is provided which includes toast, cereal, tea, coffee, and juice. Three computers are available with free internet. Guests are required to be back at the hostel by 3 a.m. or are locked out until 7 a.m. Once you find it, the Alberg Juvenil Palau provides a very central base for exploring Barcelona and the facilities are basic but adequate.

Good
Noise is the big problem. No air condition in room. you will wake up in the night for sweating, but good location, free breakfast, and internet. very near to metro.

Great, only curfew sucks, the dish is not in good shape.

Too loud! We didn't get one nights sleep (out of five). The streets were noisy, the room mates showed no respect. We will never book another hostel abroad again. If you'd compare the standard of this hostel to that of a swedish one, you would find that swedish hostels are like hotels. We couldn't eat breakfast when we wanted (kitchen closed). When we finally were able to make breakfast, we weren't aloud to use the stove!! You can't cook anything until between 7 to 10 in the evening, problem is, everyone wants to use the stove at these hours.

Good, warm, cozy and friendly environment. Nice gothic feel. It's not really that noisy, and there is no club nearby. Only drunken tourists yelling on the street. Curfew is a bitch.

Nice cozy hostel, good for meeting small groups of people. The curfew is a bitch and we spent a few nights wandering the streets of Barcelona at night until they opened at 7 a.m. Clean beds, the showers were a little gross and clogged, but the kitchen facilities were good.

Good location, except for the noisy club just nearby. Not great for sleeping. Dia around the corner is handy. Kitchen area is good. For some reason they only like you to use it from 7-10 p.m., but this rule wasn't applied while I was there. The 3 a.m. curfew limited the social life a little bit. Staff were quite helpful.

I liked this place. The staff are really nice, the common area is good, the rooms are fine (you just need to have linen), there is a good kitchen and the location is great. It's a place where you can meet heaps of people and have fun, and it doesn't get too noisy.

The location is perfect: it's close to La Ramblas and the Metro. Even though we were not members of youth hostels we didn't have to pay extra. The beds and breakfast are average. It has a friendly staff; it's in a very noisy neighborhood.

This place is nearby La Rambla and The Cathedrale. The staff are friendly and helpful. No fee was charged because we weren't Youth Hostels members. It had average rooms and beds and was sanitary. Mind you, the neighborhood is very noisy at night.

The location of this place was great, when I eventually found it! The rooms are very basic. You can rent the linen or bring your own. Only two out of the three showers worked, and you have to continuously push the button as the water turns off after 30 seconds. The 3 a.m. curfew was a pain, as everything gets started around 1 or 2 a.m., and to rush back when the party's only just started is a pain. Having arrived back at the hostel at 6 a.m., we had to wait till 7 before we were allowed in. We met some very nice people in this hostel, as it was small and friendly.

This is one great hostel in a very beautiful city indeed. I stayed here in June 2004, and was very impressed. The dorms are small (mine was only four beds), but quite nice, despite not being the cleanest I'd seen. Still they were in pretty good condition, and the small balcony attached to the room was very nice, especially late at night. There are lockers big enough to fit your pack, which is pretty handy and secure, too. The breakfast of rolls, toast, juice, and coffee is small, but okay nonetheless. And it's not too much after a night on the sangria! The bathrooms are okay and clean, although the 30-second push button shower is a pain. The hostel's dining/common room is very nice too. There's a TV, and it is a very good place to meet other folks. I met some very nice people here indeed. As the place is quite small, it has a nice feeling, too. Best of all, the place is not overrun by Americans, as I've heard reports of other hostels in the area. The location is fantastic. It's right in the old Gothic part of town, meters from Las Ramblas, and there are plenty of not-too-touristy pubs within walking distance as well. The 3 a.m. curfew is reasonable, too. It's quite a nice establishment. I'd stay here again. But as it is small, ring ahead!

I like this hostel. It's a five-minute walk from La Rambla and Liceu Metro station. The rooms are a little cramped, though, and the stove in the kitchen is only available from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. But the staff are friendly, and it's secure.
