The Plantation Hotel

We arrived at the plantation hotel on Saturday 18th oct. because of the long journey we decided to have a power nap before heading out. when i was awoken forty-five minutes later by my alarm, i found myself surrounded by bedbugs. my friend woke up and found she also had this company in her bed too! We went downsatirs to complain, they finally moved us to a different room. the guy was clueless, actually told us to go and get our bedding from our other bed. we tried to explain that the bedbugs live inside the linen. he didnt seem to understand and tried to tell us they had came in through the balcony! We moved rooms, just started to relax again, and i saw bedbugs on my backpack, so then proceeded to spend my evening washing and disinfecting all my clothes and my backpack itself. i am now left with over eighty bites which are very itchy and not nice to look at. do your self a favour, don't stay here!

If your priority is proximity to nightlife, this is the place. It's more of a hotel than a "real" hostel in my opinion. Reception was quite often closed and you would have to contact the staff in the bar of the hotel — great if you need something on a lively night! The kitchen is not all that bad, but the management is definitely relying on you choosing the meal deal downstairs (which is probably alright for the price of $6, but you have to buy a beer (surprise!) with it). So if you are more interested in good kitchen facilities and very clean bathrooms and showers, where your clothes don't get wet while you shower, and proximity to the beach and hostel atmosphere.... Well, then this is not the one to choose!

Shuttle bus??? I was told I had to walk from the train station. This is a great party place if you don't want to sleep at night and enjoy loud music in your room 24/7.

The Planto rocks!!! It's the best place.

This place has the best damn shuttle bus driver in Australia, Sam Macaskill! It's a lovely place to stay, and it has good food as well.
