Guest House YULULU is a tiny guesthouse located nearby Karasuma Oike Station. No lockers are available but it has a full kitchen. The common area is small, so it might be an inconvenience if many guests want to spend time in this area. The place offers free towels and free luggage storage from 9 a.m to 4 p.m.
The Location
It is located five minutes' walking from Karasuma Oike Station nearby the Manga Museum and Nishiki Market; there are main streets nearby, so many convenience stores, restaurants, and shopping stores are available. The Imperial Palace is nearby as well. There is only a small sign outside the hostel, but it's still easy to find.
Rooms and Bathrooms
At check-in, staff explain and give the password for the Wi-Fi and main entrance, and there is no curfew. There are private (including double rooms and Japanese-style rooms for five, all with shared bathrooms) and shared dorms, which include a six-bed, mixed option. In the shared dorms, the bed is simple, just a tatami floor with a thin mattress, a duvet, and a pillow. There’s a small area right next to the bed where there’s a hanger, individual lamp, and plug; you can put your luggage here. Neither lockers nor shelves are available.
There are two toilets (one downstairs and one upstairs) and a shared shower, so sometimes there may be a queue for the shower. The shower is a proper room with dressing room area and the shower area with a curtain. It has hot water and amenities -- shampoo, conditioner, and body soap. There aren’t slippers available but free towels are on offer for personal use. There is only a hair dryer outside the shower.
Common Spaces
This is a small guesthouse with everything, including a full kitchen and small common area with manga. The kitchen has everything -- kettle, microwave, fridge, frying pans, and cutlery so you can easily cook if you want -- plus free green and black tea and coffee. In front of the kitchen, there’s the common area, which is just a small bench and table (no sofas). There is a washing machine but no dryer. You can leave your luggage at the common area downstairs before and after check-in from 9 a.m to 4 p.m.
Summary
This is a nice, small hostel that's not very social but has the basics. Common areas are small, so it might be an inconvenience if many guests want to be in these areas. There’s only one shower, so sometimes there’s a queue. No lockers are available.
