Surrounded by breathtaking mountains and wonderful scenery, our remote eco-hostel offers an unforgettable experience in what is often regarded as one of the most beautiful glens in Scotland.

Glen Affric Youth Hostel is a unique and remote youth hostel in a wide river valley surrounded by high mountains. Eight miles from the nearest road, this former stalking bothy on the Glen Affric Estate is a haven for walkers, nature lovers and those seeking solitude. On the doorstep are 15 Munro hills and good tracks through the valleys for both walking and mountain biking. The hostel is only accessible on foot or by mountain bike, so please allow at least 3-4 hours to walk there. The location is very special and the closest you’ll get to an Alpine Hut in Scotland. A great experience awaits those who are prepared to make the effort to visit.

There are no signs to the youth hostel so a good map, compass, torch and appropriate clothing are essential. You should also bring your own sleeping bag.

Glen Affric Youth Hostel offers multi-share accommodation as well as two private rooms.

Location

There is no vehicle access to the hostel, so if you are bringing a car you will need to leave it at the Forestry Commission car park at Loch Beinn a Mheadhoin (3-5 hours for the walk to the east of the hostel). By bus, the hostel can be accessed from Cannich (20 miles from the hostel, visit www.travelinescotland.com and www.rapsons.com) or the River Affric car park
