• Ilha Grande is located on the south of the State of Rio de Janeiro, in the Ilha Grande Bay.
• Abrao is the main village in the island settled 11 nautic miles away from the main land.
• Its easy to get to the island, just take one of the ferries that go to Abrao Village, the major port of the Island. The ferries leave from Mangaratiba or Angra dos Reis. The ferry company Barcas S.A. does the transfer of 1:30 long.
• The crossing to the island is safe as the sea is mainly calm. There are not many daily transfers so it is recommended to arrive to the port in advance to avoid congestion, specially on holidays and long weekends.
• Boats and schooners also do the crossing between the main land and the Island, the schedule varies so please consult us in advance. From Angra dos Reis you will certainly find one of these boats going towards the island. Private vehicles are forbidden so cars must be left on the main land. Mangaratiba and Angra dos Reis have safe parking lots near the piers.
