Paracas Backpackers' House is on the main strip in Paracas and close to everything that you need.
The Location
This hostel is located right on the main road of Paracas and is only a two-minute walk right down to the beach where you will find loads of restaurants serving fresh seafood. If on a budget, there are a few minimarts also a short walk away.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The ten-bed dormitory here is on the fourth floor -- something to note if you have problems with stairs or walking -- and it may pay to ask about the locations of the other dorm rooms. Each bed has a partition, which allows you some privacy and a shelf on which to put a few of your things. Power outlets are only on some beds, which means you're either climbing over a sleeping someone else to charge your things or they are climbing over you, depending on how lucky you get with the ports. The beds, however, are warm and comfortable and you will get a good night's sleep.
There is a bathroom with toilet and shower on the top floor, but the better showers are found on the ground floor off the main common area. The water pressure is good and the water is nicely hot. They also have extra sinks outside for brushing teeth and other general hygiene routines.
Common Spaces
They have a large area out back with quite a few hammocks for lounging around and enjoying the fresh air. They also have the main area near the reception, which has tables and chairs to eat or chill out around. There is a kitchen beside this, which is really handy (food in Paracas is expensive). You can cook your own meals, if you manage to find a vegetable for sale anywhere in town, or are forward-thinking enough to bring them with you. These areas are central to the comings and goings of the hostel, so staff are always here and you can meet people easily enough in this area.
Summary
This is a really nice hostel in the middle of all of the action. They can help you with planning any tours that you would like to take to Ballestas or into the reserve and they have decent rates. Brush up on your Spanish though, because there isn't a great deal of English spoken here by staff members. Anyway, this is a great and cheap place to enjoy Paracas!
