"Liptovský Hrádok (637 m, population 8,600), is the tourist and economic centre of the region of an Upper Liptov and is situated under the northern protuberances of the Low Tatras mountains and at the confluence of the Belá and Váh rivers. A predecessor of the town was the community, Belsko, existing as early as the 13th century.
