Get to know Rzeszów (no more "I wish I knew this before")

This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Rzeszów.

Lying just a few kilometres from the borders with Ukraine and Slovakia, Rzeszów is the largest city in southeastern Poland with close to two hundred thousand residents. Since the city is located on the banks of Wislok River, it was already a farming settlement centuries before Christ, but today, however, Rzeszów is a modern student city.

There is an international airport in the nearby village of Jasionka, from where you can take cheap buses to the city center. But in case you are arriving by train, the most important train station in the region is located right in the old town, just a short walk from some of the main tourist attractions, so you can start exploring the city immediately. Some of the sights you do not want to miss are the Palace of the Lubomirski Family, the Main Square and Town Hall, the Underground Tourist Route, and Lancut Castle in the nearby town of the same name. Rzeszów's old town is small enough to be explored on foot, but if you are interested in visiting some other places, the city offers good bus connections. There are also a number of good opportunities for shopping; Ulica 3 Maja (or Third May Street) is the main shopping street in the old town, but the city also has a couple of large shopping malls. People generally have a good knowledge of English and German, so communication should not be much of a problem.

You can find some decent and inexpensive Rzeszów hostel options, and since the city has a pretty good public transport system, it comes down to personal preferences when choosing a place to stay.
