The property is well located just a few minutes walk to the south of the train station. The bike hire they often from a sister hotel is fantastic for seeing the temple of kyoto - definetely the way to do it (we did it in winter and managed to agree with the guy to keep it over new years night so we could ride to the temples). The hotel is old and the room is small even by Japanese standards (once the double futon is rolled out you need to step over it to use the bathroom), but that said the location was good and the reception was friendly. Value is not the best given the size and age, but it is clean and well located, so take the good with the bad. We had a great time, but just wanted to put clear expectations - also the rooms are close together and if you had a noisy neighbour that could be bad (not a problem we experienced though)

The Ryokan was close to the station and over the road from a good convenience store (Family Mart). The owner was very knowledgeable about the local area and helpful with tourist details. The rooms were traditional however the floors are HARD and the mattresses are VERY THIN so you might like to consider bringing an air mattress to sleep on. The Internet is available on computers and 100 Yen buys you 20 minutes.

It isnt a clean place at all... and if they want to make you pay 100Y for 20 minutes of internet connection, the computers should work properly...

Seiki is as pictured -- pretty bare bones but great for the price. Staff speaks minimal english but is friendly enough. Great location! About a five-minute walk south of Kyoto station. Clean, but not sparkling. I wouldn't recommend it for picky travelers. — Katie , USA (2007-05-08)
